Oursson FE0205D fermenter test: yogurt and kvass turned out just great!

Lately the quality of ready products leaves a lot of questions, but we want our food to be both tasty and healthy. It is great when there is affordable and inexpensive equipment which allows you to cook interesting and natural products at home and without much trouble. Oursson fermenter is just like this. It’s not just a yogurt maker, as you might initially think, you can use it to make a variety of dairy products, “raise” dough, make kvass and even wine.

FUNCTIONALITY

Device has three programs: Fermentation for dairy products and yeast dough, Wine Tincture for infusion of young wine, liqueurs, infusions and other alcoholic beverages, Kvas for beverages like kvass, which are based on the unfinished alcoholic fermentation.

64 different dishes are listed in the recipe book that comes with it. These are pancake and cakes dough, yogurt, sour milk, fermented milk, 7 kinds of kvass, mead, kissel and croissant. 10 kinds of wine and tinctures also do not leave indifferent zealous hosts and allow almost no trouble to prepare a delicious and unusual drink that will pleasantly surprise guests.

Most importantly, the fermenter does everything itself, you do not have to monitor the temperature, stir the ingredients, all the time control the process. All you need to do is to prepare the initial mixture, pour it into a container, put it into the fermenter, select the mode and time – and that’s all, the process goes automatically.

A number of recipes require certain products: yogurt starter, mash for kvass, yeast. Interestingly, Oursson offers ready-made starters for making lactic acid products: yogurt, cottage cheese, ryazhenka, etc.d.

CONTROL

Made with buttons. First choose mode, on the display light up digits 1, 2, 3. Then a timer sets the time, then presses the Start button. Countdown is shown on the display.

At the end of the process you will hear a beep and change the color of the display.

TEST #1. YOGURT

Everything is very simple: mix sourdough and milk in a liter container, put the pot in the fermenter, set the time. By the way, I got used to eight hours of cooking, the manufacturers recommend ten hours, but eight was enough to make delicious thick yogurt.

TEST NR. 2. FOOD

Summer, heat, soft drinks sell out very quickly. Let me tell you right away, I’ve tried making kvass before, but I never liked the result.

Preparation in the fermenter was surprisingly simple – I simply mixed wort with water in a two-liter container , added yeast, the instructions to the wort says “do not stir”, the recipes for the device say “stir”, I believed Oursson engineers and stirred . I put a container in the fermenter, chose program 3 kvass , time – 36 hours and forgot about the brew. You do not need to check, stir, move from place to place. After 36 hours we added sugar, poured it into a bottle high foam and put it into the fridge.

It’s perfect for “Oroshka”!

Plans for making wine and infusions. No fuss either, it just takes considerably longer up to 168 h. The fermenter’s very low power makes it possible to hope that the electricity bill won’t surprise people with its size.

By the way, the containers are made of glass and have durable lids. They themselves are very comfortable and pleasant, if you can say that about utensils. In general, the fermenter is cute and small, it’s very pretty, which is also important for kitchen appliances.

Easy preparation, variety of functions, compactness, color choice.

I wish the programs were labeled with letters or words instead of numbers. Color indication is not always clear without instruction.
