The OSVR ecosystem is even more powerful with upgraded hardware and a fresh line of content

HDK 2 is equipped with individual lenses for sharper and more colorful images, a dual OLED display with low afterglow and 2160×1200 resolution, and uses a unique image enhancement technology IQE Image Quality Enhancer to reduce the grating effect. The HDK 2 is capable of transmitting images at 90 frames per second and can match the best VR devices available today.

Completely unlike other current generation HMDs, the HDK 2 will go on sale in July for $399. HDK 1.4 will still be available for $299.

“HDK 2 gives us the opportunity to meet the demands of gamers and VR enthusiasts, as well as provide developers with an affordable open-source &bdquo hardware” for innovative projects,

– Says Christopher Mitchel, chief OSVR officer, Razer. –

“With the HDK 2’s ability to deliver the same quality visuals as the industry leaders, we are paving the way for VR media and games in all their glory on any future virtual reality helmet through an open-source, hardware-free ecosystem.”.

“We set out to make the VR environment more democratic with open, affordable and high-performance software and hardware solutions with near universal compatibility across devices and engines,

– Says Yuval Boger, CEO of Sensics and co-founder of OSVR. –

Thanks to the efforts of the Sensics and Razer engineering teams, the contributions of the OSVR partners and the input of VR enthusiasts around the world, we will be able to showcase an entirely new and exciting experience in the near future.”.
