Nikon announces a new generation of full-frame mirrorless cameras, the Z7 II AND Z6 II

Nikon has announced the Nikon Z7 II and Nikon Z6 II, the next generation of its flagship mirrorless cameras, the Z7 and Z6.Both models are equipped with twin EXPEED 6 processors and an even bigger and faster buffer, so you can take the cameras with you on longer outings. Two memory card slots enable simultaneous use of a UHS-II SD card and an XQD card or an ultra-fast CFexpress card. The cameras also support 4K/60p recording. They can also be paired with the new MB-N11 battery pack with upright grip controls and the new WR-R11b transmitter, for wireless connection of flash units or other accessories.

The Nikon Z 7II: masterpieces in detail

The Z 7II is a new chapter in the development of the Nikon Z 7 Hi-end camera. It has a 45.7 MP sensor and two EXPEED 6 processors, allowing you to create detailed images with an incredible dynamic range at low and high ISO settings. The camera features a wide range of features for landscape photography and commercial advertising, and its powerful processors and large buffer ensure shooting speeds of up to 10 frames per second. Photographers can now capture up to 200 full-resolution JPEG images or 77 12-bit uncompressed RAW images in a single burst.

The Z 7II has advanced autofocus capabilities, including support for wide-area AF with human and animal detection, AF subject tracking similar to 3D tracking, and enhanced low-light autofocus. 3690K resolution electronic viewfinder. realistic looking images, while the high refresh rate reduces blackout.

The Z 7II features a customizable information display that lets you make quick adjustments and can be switched off completely when taking photos. Electronic viewfinder automatically turns off to save power when the monitor is tilted down for Live View photography.

A camera designed for professionals who demand unprecedented detail. High-speed shooting enables the photographer to capture images even in fast-moving scenes without any limitations. Two memory card slots let you use a UHS-II SD card in one slot and an XQD card or ultra-fast CFexpress card in the other to adapt to any shooting situation. Furthermore, the fully dustproof Z 7II can cope with rough terrain, harsh weather conditions, and on-site aerosol generators.

Nikon Z 6II: creativity without compromise

The Z 6II has undergone further development based on feedback from users. It’s reliable and easy to use, with cinematic quality video and high performance stills. The Z’s wide mount and 24.5MP full-frame sensor deliver crisp, detailed images over a wide ISO range. The camera has a second slot for memory cards, several times the buffer, improved focus sensitivity and the ability to recognize eyes and faces not only in photos, but also in videos.

The camera shoots 4K UHD and Full HD video in FX- and DX-based formats. At the same time, when shooting in HLG format, it captures more detail, dynamic range and contrast, minimizing the need for post-processing. Better AF with eye and animal detection, improving focus on subjects in movies.AF now operates in low light down to -6 EV with f/2 lens or higher and Low light AF. Phase focusing now works down to -4.5 EV.

The autofocus function is also useful for still photography, and together with the high performance of the camera, it achieves outstanding results. During continuous shooting, the Z 6II captures 14 frames per second. As a result, you can get more pictures in a single burst – up to 200 JPEG images or up to 124 12-bit uncompressed RAW images.

Z 6II is designed for those who want a versatile system that captures cinema-quality video along with stills. It is suitable for professional videographers or, for example, reportage photographers, where agility, adaptability and the highest quality are important. Ultra-rugged, lightweight magnesium-alloy body makes the camera easy to carry and use in any environment. It’s fully protected against dust, dirt and moisture.

Price and availability

The Nikon Z7 II will go on sale in November 2020. The camera will cost $3000 for the Body kit and $3600 for the kit with a Nikkor Z 24-70mm F4 lens.

Nikon Z6 II will go on sale in December 2020. The camera will cost $2000 for the Body kit and $2600 for the kit with the Z 24-70mm F4 lens.

The MB-N11 battery grip and WR-R11b transmitter will be available in November 2020 for $400 and $200 respectively
