New SMEG wine cabinets: functional and aesthetically pleasing.

The world of fine wines is as fascinating as it is complicated – particularly where you need to keep them. The new Smeg wine cabinets on show at Eurocucina 2016 will show wine lovers that home storage can be as beautiful and sophisticated as the contents. In line with the company’s philosophy of expressing technology through design, SMEG adds new wine cabinets to its range. Models appeared in the renewed Dolce Stil Novo series and the brand’s iconic Classica series. Elegant Eclypse glass, copper and stainless steel finish. Models are available in 45 cm and 82 cm versions for installation under the worktop. The door imitates an extension of the kitchen front, which gives a strong stylistic effect.

Built-in wine cabinets

The new Smeg wine cabinets use advanced technologies to create the best possible environment and control the chemical and biological processes to which these drinks are subject. The materials used in their design are the result of careful research in collaboration with leading sommeliers.

Temperature control is crucial to preserving the quality of your wines. Thanks to the high precision of the electronic control of the digital display, it can easily be adjusted without opening the cabinet door. The interior space is divided among shelves that can hold an average of 18 bottles 45 cm version and 38 bottles 82 cm version . The visual fusion of the door with the kitchen front is achieved by the absence of handles and the push-pull mechanism, which allows you to open it with a small push.

Built-in appliances

It is very important to have the right humidity in the air inside the cabinet to preserve the wine for a long time, because at a humidity of less than 50% the wines start to oxidize. Humidity over 85% gives rise to mould on the labels, which can even spread to the bottle stoppers. Keeping humidity levels between 60% and 80%, Smeg wine cabinets guarantee optimum storage of wines.

The UV rays can also change the structure of the wine – for this challenge, the company offers a modern solution: the Eclypse glass panel. Technologically speaking, it reflects harmful rays aesthetically speaking it gives you a range of options: maximum transparency when the cabinet interior is lit, and total opacity when the lights are off.

Smeg

If you open the 45-cm door of a wine cabinet, connoisseurs will notice the respect of an ancient noble wine-making tradition: the removable and extendable shelves are made of Slavonian oak. With this range Smeg reaffirms its attention to detail: the extractable shelves on this range have been designed to ensure that bottles of different shapes and capacities can be stored safely.

Another storage challenge – vibration. Even the slightest fluctuations can change the composition of a drink, causing sediment and upsetting the balance of its components achieved over the years of wine maturation. To protect bottles from this damaging effect, Smeg wine cabinets incorporate a cooling system that reduces vibration to a minimum. This is aided by shelves with telescopic guides that allow bottles to be easily and safely removed from the cabinet, avoiding chafing or sudden movements.

All Smeg wine cabinets have an A+ energy rating and are made to the high standards of the Made in Italy label. The Italian manufacturer also intends to expand the range of this product line in the future.
