New generation navigators meet military standards MIL-STD-810GMIL for shock temperature resistance and water resistance, allowing the use of equipment in the most difficult field conditions. The devices, weighing just under 90 grams, have a 3-axis compass with accelerometer and barometric altimeter. The data is displayed on the 2-inch high-resolution screen, which is optimal for outdoor use, including in conjunction with night vision devices.
Unlike the previous generation Foretrex 401, which worked only with GPS, the new devices also support GLONASS and GALILEO to ensure accurate positioning. Two types of coordinates can be displayed at the same time. Battery life two AAA batteries in navigation mode nearly tripled from 17 to 48 hours. In UltraTrac mode, devices last up to one week and as a watch up to one month.
In addition, Foretrex 601 and Foretrex 701 Ballistic Edition navigators are compatible with smartphones – the screen of the device can display e-mails, text messages and notifications. Users can take advantage of automatic data transfer to Garmin Connect™ and the intelligent device-to-device communication system. It is possible to connect to smartphone and Bluetooth tracking function in real time – LiveTrack. Just like the previous generation device, the new navigators support Jumpmaster function for skydiving.
