In 2017, Sony introduced a line of 4K HDR BRAVIA OLED A1 Series TVs, which were positively received by consumers and market experts alike. The basis of success is the combination of the original monolithic design, high-quality OLED picture and realistic sound, which is transmitted by the entire surface of the screen thanks to Acoustic Surface ™ technology.

At CES2018 Sony introduced new high-tech OLED TVs AF8 series for a wider audience. And it takes advantage of Sony’s unique 4K HDR X1™ Extreme image processor, with Acoustic Surface™ technology to complement the picture quality with breathtakingly realistic audio.

Thanks to the OLED screen, AF8 series TVs offer amazing picture detail, deep blacks, rich and realistic colors, as well as the widest viewing angle. Sony has been developing video technology for more than half a century. Lessons learned allow us to create a system that precisely controls the 8 million pixels in an OLED screen to deliver the highest-quality 4K HDR image quality.

In addition, Acoustic Surface technology transfers the sound source directly to the screen, creating an immersive experience for the viewer. Monolithic design gets rid of the usual speakers so the viewer sees just a quality picture in front of you and nothing else. The minimal footprint of the AF8 Series makes it easy to set up anywhere.

In parallel, Sony will expand its LCD TV lineup in 2018 to meet the growing demand for high-end, big-screen 4K HDR models. One of these new products will be XF90 series TVs with 75, 65, 55 and 49 inches screen diagonal, which are equipped with the advanced X1 Extreme processor.

The larger the screen, the more fuzzy picture elements will be noticeable, especially in fast-paced scenes. To tackle this challenge, the XF90 Series TVs use new X-Motion Clarity™ technology to deliver crisp, smooth dynamic scenes. X-Motion Clarity technology is based on Sony’s patented algorithm for local dimming of the LCD screen. This algorithm allows you to effectively control the brightness, optimizing its duration. The result is a clear, smooth picture with virtually no loss of brightness.

Both new AF8 and XF90 series also support Dolby Vision, an HDR format developed by Dolby Laboratories. It further enriches the visual experience with strikingly bright highlights, deep darks and natural color reproduction.

Sony also announced that more 4K HDR TVs will be available in 2018. The dates of American market availability and price will be announced later.
