New Matrix

Leica SL2-S features a custom-designed 24-megapixel backlit CMOS sensor. Data processing is handled by a Maestro III processor and 4 GB of buffer memory. Virtually endless continuous recording at up to 9 frames per second is possible. JPEG continuous shooting time is limited only by the capacity of the inserted memory card.

Image stabilization

The Leica SL2-S features a sensor on a sliding mount system, which offers multi-axis image stabilization when using Leica lenses. Sensor shift technology also makes it possible to take pictures in Multishot mode, when the camera creates an image with four times the resolution of up to 96 megapixels from eight separate frames. A sensitivity range of up to 100,000 ISO in combination with a fast autofocus and image stabilization ensure great images in practically all lighting conditions.

Ideal for video

The Leica SL2-S is not only suitable for photographers, but also for videographers and cinematographers thanks to its outstanding professional-level video performance, which is continuously optimized through firmware updates. Leica SL2-S captures 4K 30p 4:2:2 10-bit video directly to SD card with no recording time limit.

Thanks to the built-in LUT functions you have full control over the recording process. Another professional feature of the camera is unlimited video recording time, which means that the duration of video recording is limited only by the internal or external memory.

With the new firmware to be released in 2021, the camera will also support the HEVC video compression standard and 4K recording at 60p. The firmware will also be updated to include autofocus and an integrated monitor, making the camera more suitable for professional use.

Optimum integration

The Leica SL2-S is the first Leica SL camera that can be directly connected to a computer for immediate uploading and processing in Capture One 21. This allows full remote control of the camera. The SL2-S can also be used to shoot directly on a computer via Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic. Except for the new sensor, the Leica SL2-S offers the same outstanding technical features as the SL2, such as the high-resolution Leica EyeRes® viewfinder and IP54 dust and water resistance. Existing Leica SL2 accessories also fit Leica SL2-S.

Unlimited compatibility

The L mount makes the Leica SL2-S fully compatible with Leica TL system lenses and L-Mount alliance optics, which includes over 40 autofocus lenses. When using an adapter on the Leica SL2-S, Leica M, R and S lenses can also be used. In addition, Leitz Cine lenses are also available for the Leica SL2-S, which is used for filming movies around the world.

Price and affordability

The Leica SL2-S will be available in America at the end of December 2020 for 382,500 Dollars.
