New BRAVIA MASTER Series TVs unveiled at CES 2019

Sony unveiled new MASTER Series 8K HDR TVs The ZG9 full-carpet LED backlit ZG9 with 8K resolution 7680×4320p and the AG9 series OLED TV with 4K resolution 3840×2160p . The Sony MASTER Series delivers the highest picture quality available to viewers in their homes – a picture that’s perfectly in tune with the author’s vision.

The MASTER Series offers only the best Sony BRAVIA TVs with superior picture quality, lifelike color, high contrast and professional-level clarity. The MASTER Series also features Netflix Calibrated Mode and IMAX Endurance to ensure accurate picture reproduction.

The ZG9 and AG9 series include the next generation X1™ Ultimate image processor for crisp, high contrast images. Introduced last fall with the launch of AF9 and ZF9, the X1™ Ultimate processor plays a key role in delivering the highest image quality in MASTER Series TVs.

The unique X1 Ultimate Processor algorithm, developed specifically for 8K models, intelligently detects and analyzes every object in the frame, delivering exceptional detail and contrast for a more lifelike experience that most accurately conveys the artist’s intent. Both the ZG9 and AG9 feature premium sound quality and Sound-from-Picture Reality. This unique feature allows you to track the source of the sound on the screen. The sound seems to emanate directly from the objects as if the actors are speaking, not from the speakers.

ZG9 Super-sized TVs

Large screens are rapidly gaining in popularity. The 98″ and 85″ Sony ZG9 Series are the answer for customers who dream of an extra-large screen in their living room. In order to deliver the highest image quality on such huge screens, you need very high resolution. Sony introduces extra resolution in its first 8K HDR TV. With double the number of horizontal and vertical lines, 8K resolution screens contain four times as many dots as 4K which is 16 times the resolution of HD . The higher resolution provides an impressive picture, so if you look at the image of TVs with 8K resolution even at close range you can’t see individual pixels.

However, it’s not just the resolution that matters for picture quality. As screen size increases, so does the role of the processor in delivering premium picture quality. The X1 Ultimate’s powerful image processor with a patented algorithm has been optimized to handle 33 million pixels. In addition, this processor supports specially developed 8K X-Reality PRO technology, which upscales any content to 8K resolution using a new dedicated 8K database, providing stunning picture detail. Sony has a long history of success in developing professional cameras and monitors, and understands that precision in signal processing components makes a visible difference in the resulting image.

In addition, brand new specialized 8K technologies have been developed for the ZG9 series, including Backlight Master Drive with full spectrum local dimming and 8K X-tended Dynamic Range PRO. Backlight Master Drive technology in the ZG9 models incorporates ultra-dense, independently controlled LED modules that deliver unparalleled contrast with deep shadows and superior brightness. To make the most of backlighting, 8K X-tended Dynamic Range PRO technology harnesses stored energy, intelligently boosting brightness in areas where it’s needed.

The ZG9 also employs X-WideAngle technology to ensure picture quality with minimal color distortion, no matter what angle you look at it. And X-Motion Clarity technology minimizes motion blur without loss of screen brightness.

Sound-from-Picture Reality Effect

As the size of the TV increases, accurate sound positioning becomes another key factor. Taking advantage of Acoustic Surface Audio on its OLED TVs, Sony extended this concept to Acoustic Multi-Audio in its ZG9 series of LED-backlit TVs.

To achieve the Sound-from-Picture Reality effect, the ZG9 series’ new Acoustic Multi-Audio technology uses four front-facing speakers two below and two above the screen to accurately capture the sound field. Viewers hear the sound coming from the screen, not the speaker. ZG9 adds Center Speaker Mode for Home Theater. To enhance sound effects, Dolby Atmos *1 technology is also used to provide a wide and rich sound range.

AG9 Premium OLED TVs

AG9 is a new flagship series of 4K HDR OLED-TVs-Sopus 77, 65 and 55 inches in an ultra-thin body. An OLED screen with an ultra-wide viewing angle, super-precise contrast and absolute blacks. Over 8 million independent self-luminous pixels precision controlled by the X1™ Ultimate Image Processor.

In addition to the processor, the AG9 series features Pixel Contrast Booster technology that enhances color and contrast in bright areas. As a result, the AG9 delivers premium picture quality that’s on par with professional-grade monitors to faithfully reproduce movie scenes as the filmmakers intended. The processor enhances SD and HD content to near 4K HDR quality and shows 4K content with stunning clarity.

Acoustic Surface Audio+ creates comprehensive sound transmitted by the entire surface of the screen in harmony with the image, mesmerizing and delighting the viewer. TV Center Speaker Mode allows you to use your TV as the center channel of your home theater.

AG9 TVs are slim and very thin without a stand. When placed on the wall using the mounting system SU-WL850, available separately , the distance from the wall to the screen surface will be approximately half of that of the previous model2. This OLED TV doesn’t just look sleek – when you look at it, it appears to be a crystal clear image floating in the air. In addition, the new bracket SU-WL850 has a swivel mechanism.

For superior picture quality, the AG9 combines the perfection of 4K resolution with the brightness, color and detail of High Dynamic Range HDR . Like the ZG9 series, the AG9s feature Netflix Calibrated Mode, IMAXEnhanced, Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos to deliver the viewing experience as the creators intended.

The user experience

Both the 8K HDR ZG9 LED-backlit and AG9 OLED-screen TV series feature the Sony Android TV™ operating system, which supports a wide range of Google Play™ apps, including YouTube™, Netflix, Amazon Video, Ivi, Okko and other programs to fully realize the capabilities of smart tech.

To expand the feature set of ZG9 and AG9 series televisions, Google Assistant is built in. Both models have built-in microphones that allow you to operate the TV hands-free. Now you can simply tell the TV the program you want, or ask Google Assistant to turn on a TV show or movie. Advanced American language support is planned for 2019

For even more convenience, you can use the new smart remote control to control connected devices such as cable and satellite set-top boxes, Blu-ray players and game consoles supported devices vary by region . Smart remote control uses radio frequencies, so you do not need to point it at the TV. New user interface provides easy and quick access to favorite apps and settings.
