NETGEAR introduces NIGHTHAWK X6, the first wireless tri-band router with up to 3.2 Gbps

San Jose – June 25, 2014. –

NETGEAR, a global networking company serving consumers, businesses and service providers, once again sets the industry standard for wireless router performance. The award-winning Nighthawk series was updated with a new device – Nighthawk X6 AC3200 R8000 , the industry’s first tri-band WiFi router that supports Broadcom 5G WiFi XStream platform standards

The signal is carried by six high-performance antennas that operate in the 2.4 GHz one channel and 5 GHz two channels bands, resulting in the fastest WiFi signal transfer rate to date – up to 3.2 Gbps 1300+1300+600 Mbps . Router automatically adjusts network load to ensure the best performance for each device and maximum network coverage.

Router can separate “fast” from “slow” WiFi devices and gives each gadget the most efficient channel. This is exactly what today’s wireless networks need – to give every device whether it’s an old notebook or the latest smart phone the signal transfer rate that the device can support. Such network load balancing enables the X6 to achieve reduced interference and efficient support for all available WiFi devices.

The Nighthawk X6 provides separate channels in the 5 GHz band for gaming and video, unlike conventional dual-band routers where the 5 GHz band is used for both Internet gaming and HD video streaming. As a result, gaming traffic and video don’t interfere with each other and transfer speeds are doubled.

“Home networks today are suffering from congestion with video content devices,” explained Sandeep Harpalani, NETGEAR’s Director of Consumer Product Marketing. – Nighthawk X6 not only solves this need with higher total throughput, but also by providing every device connected to your network with separate transmission channels. Also, it takes into account the load on each individual frequency band.

Router uses 1GHz dual core processor and three additional processors. The Nighthawk X6 is virtually unmatched in its class and allows you to enjoy all the latest developments in WiFi, including Broadcom’s 5G WiFi XStream technology. Automatically matches each Wi-Fi device to the optimal speed for its home network so you can simultaneously play games online, watch HD video and download heavy files without being frustrated by the interference from one process.

Intelligent network load balancing Beamforming+ technology sets WiFi-availability and speed directly at the device. As the distance between the WiFi device and the access point increases, the transmitted signal strength automatically increases. Beamforming+ technology works in each of the three bands.

Nighthawk X6 also offers superb capability to share, store and protect files and multimedia content. By connecting data storage via USB port 3.0, you can watch HD video anywhere in your home on multimedia devices that support DLNA or AirPlay. A special free NETGEAR ReadySHARE Vault application is responsible for the important data backup. This application records all the changes on computers in the network and can save the modified data to the hard drive connected to Nighthawk X6 via USB. Security is provided by VPN support, remote access with native URL, dual firewall SPI and NAT , and separate guest network access.

“The tri-band technology that the NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 supports gives this device a real advantage over all routers on the market today. – Linley Gwennap, principal analyst at The Linley Group, said. – Twice the speed of other WiFi routers, the Nighthawk X6 router can deliver.

Technical advantages of the Nighthawk X6
