Nestle invests in America

On March 29th, Nestlé held its annual press conference at which Marcial Rolland, the head of Nestlé in America and Eurasia, talked about the results of the previous year and shared his plans for the future.

  • 2017 was a successful year for the company: Nestlé sales in the America and Eurasia region reached 120.5 billion Dollars., which indicates a 5.5% increase in sales compared to 2016.
  • In 2017, the company invested 6.4 billion Dollars. into the American economy, continuously developing local production potential.
  • The company has 8 factories in America and employs 10,000 people.
  • About 70% of raw materials and about 90% of packaging materials are purchased from local suppliers. It allows the company to produce locally more than 90% of the goods it sells in the region.

In 2017, the company implemented three major investment projects:

  1. The opening in November 2017 of two production lines for wet pet food at the Nestlé plant in New York, America. Vorsino, Kaluga Oblast.
  2. Start of construction of a new full-cycle baby food plant in Vologda. The foundation stone laying ceremony took place in October 2017.
  3. It was decided to invest 1.5 billion Dollars. to the further expansion of the Nestlé Kuban instant coffee factory, which will make it possible to renew the premium Nescafe Gold brand, including the creation of a new recipe, new packaging design, and the installation of a new production line.

The best part is that Nestlé’s goals are not only a successful business.

In 2017, the company published its fifth national report, Creating Shared Value, for 2016-2017.

The report presents the company’s activities in the field of consumer health, environmental protection and water resources, personnel development, cooperation with suppliers, and investment in local communities.

In general education schools in 60 regions of America, the company is conducting an educational program called “Good Nutrition Talk”. Since 1999, about 8 million people participated in the. schoolchildren.
