NEC launches new class of quiet laser projectors

NEC Display Solutions Europe has announced that the new generation PA804UL and PA1004UL laser projectors are now available to order for the European market. This news, previously announced at ISE-2020 in February, means that conference rooms, classrooms, lecture halls and museums can now experience the benefits of a silent projector that brings striking images to the screen.

NEC’s unique filterless LCD technology means there is no need to change filters or lamps. PA series projectors have established themselves as world-class devices due to low cost of ownership. They will operate for up to 20,000 hours without requiring any external maintenance.

In addition to reliability, the PA804UL and PA1004UL offer extraordinary image quality with excellent LCD color reproduction. High brightness, 1920×1200 resolution and saturated colors mean that content is projected clearly even in bright spaces.

Like all NEC products, the new projectors have distinctive technical features. Nothing accumulates on the LCD panels, as the fully sealed casing protects the unit from dust and external contaminants to ensure consistent performance. Plus, the projector runs so quietly, you’ll forget it’s on. Also, for existing customers of PA series projectors, the transition to the new product line is facilitated by their compatibility with PA mechanical lenses.

“This addition to the laser projector lineup is the conference solution people have been looking for,” said Gerd Kaiser, senior project manager at NEC Display Solutions Europe. “If you are making a presentation and the stakes are high, it is very important that all the attention is focused on your topic. A projector should be a means of communication, not a thing to talk about. With perfect image quality and no noise, our new projectors ensure that your message gets across just right!”

The main advantages of the new projectors:

  • No lamp change necessary – lifetime of 20.4K maintenance-free operating hours thanks to laser light source.

  • No need to replace filters – fully sealed optical laser LCD mechanism eliminates the need for filters. Great color brightness is guaranteed, and there’s no need to budget for maintenance costs anymore.

  • Super quiet operation – a patented innovative design of the built-in ventilation system for hermetically sealed light source not only protects against dust, but also greatly reduces the noise effect.

  • Impress with realistic color reproduction and contrast – brilliant white and wide color space with highly dynamic contrast, with HDR10 support via HDMI.

  • Incredible viewing capabilities – impressive pan and tilt functionality, unique geometric adjustments, Picture-in-Picture, Fragmentation, 3D support and 4K anti-aliasing/aliasing camera.

This article about NEC launching a new class of quiet laser projectors sounds intriguing! I’m wondering what makes these projectors different from the ones already on the market? Are they more efficient, have enhanced image quality, or offer additional features? Also, how quiet are these projectors exactly? I’m curious to know if they produce significantly less noise than traditional projectors.
