The October issue of the British magazine Hi-Fi News published a review of the new Neat Acoustics speakers. We present you the most interesting points from the article.
“Neat’s new floorstanding speakers look more like a decorative feature and it’s quite unusual. Model is made in an ultra-compact Iota design with bottom-mounted woofer and tuned to it by the phase-inverter.
The feeling is deceptive, and from the first glance on the photo it looks like ordinary floor-standing loudspeakers. But look closer and you’ll notice the midrange driver is only 10 cm in diameter, and the speakers are real babes, only 45 cm high. The new Alpha model is a familiar Iota design reimagined for slightly larger spaces.
A big difference from the original Iota is the EMIT tweeter and midrange driver in a closed box. Nevertheless, the reflex port is still there, but this model has it moved lower on the back wall. A speaker designed to blend almost invisibly into any décor. At the same time from a very compact cabinet they produce sound like the bigger models.
Iota Alpha’s seem to project the music scene into the space above thanks to the beveled front panel. You get a “sphere of sound” floating freely in front of the listener, a rare, almost magical effect that only the best competitors can produce “right out of the box”.
The model is available in four finishes: matte white, oak, black oak and American walnut.”.
