MyST Nail1 in-ear headphones: the musical master – nail at number one!

“Let’s get acquainted, friends! Here is my story. Let me tell you about myself: here everything is simple – the nail I!”

Don’t think, we are not cheered by heavy metal and even scrap metal can go to the woods. It’s just that this time I was sent a real metal product: the Myst Nail 1 in-ear headphones, which look like a silver shell or bullet, if not a nail ? – exactly. Brand Myst, which is widely known in narrow circles, has been pleasing audiophiles with nailheads based on the armature driver for several years. Now I am happy: finally I managed to assemble and listen to almost the whole line of the domestic manufacturer and I am ready to share my musical “aftertaste. We already had reviews of Myst products, but those were planar heavyweights MyST IzoPhones, MyST OrtoPhones and also DACs MyST PortaDAC 1704 and MyST PortaDAC 1862. Now it is time to serve “dessert” – lightweight Nails headphones.

Appearance and ergonomics

MyST products’ package, as they say, is as complete as it gets. Not to inflate the price tag and to succeed in the main thing – the sound, the guys do not bother with the “pickles” in the packaging and equipment. If you pay for the music, you actually get the music – the headphones live, and the earpieces are available separately on the Mycroft website.su, or simply screw in your favorite ones from other ears if you have them in your stash.

Nail 1 looks like something between a hard nail and a shell casing from a “small cartridge”. Material – aluminum, shape – cylindrical. The wire is very strong, nice silver-plated copper, jack Neutrik 3.5 mm. The sound tube is covered with a small filter to protect against sulfur. All in all, here everything is modest, but with taste. The headphones fit fairly comfortably in the ear canal, without much of a fad a la Etymotic. They do not need to be screwed in very deeply, just find a comfortable position on the way to a great sound. With the right choice of nozzles can be achieved pretty decent noise isolation.

Audio technology

Sound

Listening was conducted on MyST DAC 1866OCU V.2, Lotoo paw Gold, Sony PCM-D100, Hifiman HM-601, QLS QA-360. With all sources headphones played at the appropriate level. The sound of Myst Nail 1 can be defined as smooth, with a small accent in the low frequencies and very little in the highs. And the accents are set so that it does not cut your ears obviously, but only slightly colors the sound with some expression.

There is no weighty “boom” and shameless “Tssyk”, everything is smooth and flat, the middle part is very detailed and musical, but the sound is neutral and not boring, so Nail 1 can be considered almost a universal product. They are suitable for any musical genre. I had a momentary acquaintance with this model of headphones, though it was long ago, and it seems that the headphones were from the starting batch. I thought at the time they sounded a little brighter and more crazy. And this time, it’s as if the nail cartridges have gone to “neutral ground” for permanent residence. I did not even believe my ears. Had another look at the “slider” on the wire, to see if it was switched? It didn’t happen – the number “1” was in place. You can see how well the product has been perfected. I hope the manufacturer won’t lie.

Audio equipment

I want to note another important point: in Myst Nail 1 vocal “screams” and sharp guitar “stabs” are served rather smoothly. The “one” handles these force majeure moments very competently. Where most headphones based on the armature receiver give a peak and enter into a resonant relationship with our hearing organs, the “unity” does it as comfortably as possible.

Listening to a composition, you already feel in advance how that moment “hit your ears” is coming you even got used to it ! : a sharp top note breaks through the falsetto, then shudders into a sharp guitar solo. And just in case you get nervous on autopilot so your “ears don’t wilt”, and then oops – and everything is alright! Alive, healthy and with normal hearing! Well, what can I say, “Thanks for the victory, Grandpa!”A truly intelligent approach! And all the other instruments and sounds stayed in their panoramic point. Nothing is smothered, not nailed, everything is clear and in its place.

The headphones are happy to work off, both macro and micro moments of the musical canvas. The big picture does not fall apart into components, but looks solid, dense and detailed. Any musical genre sounds very interesting, precise, close to “natural”. The Nail 1s delight us with their drive, bodacious good punch, neutral-smooth detailed midrange, and clear treble.

MyST

Bottom line

HF – there is no brightness, ringing, you can’t call them light. I would call them precise and crisp.

The midrange is very detailed, smooth with a little bit of expression. No unnecessary graininess, everything is smooth without peaks, dips and distortions. The emotional component of the composition betrays itself very well.

The woofer is well controlled, with a decent kick, fast, I would call it thick and tidy at the same time. The bass isn’t really a lot, it’s just well-produced and always “hits the spot”.

Conclusion

MyST again demonstrated a quality product for a reasonable price. At

With all the scarcity of the set the headphones please with the main thing – the quality sound. ja

I definitely recommend Myst Nail 1 for listening and you can buy it yourself – it’s really a worthy product. Price in the online store mycroft.Su for this model is 11 000 Dollars. It is quite possible to consider such a price tag as benevolent.

Sound, genre versatility, convenience.

Lack of accessories.
