Nikon’s budget camera for adults, a bit more austere in style, also comes in a wide range of bright colors. In the graceful metal body in the off state completely hides a very versatile zoom. The new version S3600 optics has grown in magnification range, becoming slightly wider and extending in teleposition. In addition, the ability to take close-up pictures of small objects has been improved by shortening the minimum focusing distance by as much as 3 cm.
Nikon Coolpix S3600 compact camera
20 mP 26-182 mm 7x 2,7″ $100
20MP 25-200mm 8x 2.7″ $140
Both cameras try to compensate for the small ability of the sensor in terms of image quality with great resolution. Capabilities in terms of taking pictures in low light are limited by the low maximum sensitivity. But it’s hardly worth getting close to 3200 ISO in practice. Better to use the built-in flash.
So that the unsophisticated user does not feel uncomfortable with the camera, the developers have reduced almost all management to the choice of scene modes – there are more than enough. The range of digital filters is even more impressive: 32 titles. Portrait Retouching mode offers 12 tools to whiten teeth, highlight eyes, soften skin and more. The only thing these budget-priced devices lack is a bit more serious video mode. But apparently, for the cameras in the $100+ category the Full HD format is not yet envisaged.
How does the image quality compare between the Nikon Coolpix S3500 and S3600? Are there any noticeable differences in features or performance that would justify choosing one over the other?
Can anyone provide more detailed information about the picture quality and performance of the Nikon Coolpix S3500/S3600 compact cameras? I’m particularly interested in knowing how well they perform in low-light conditions and if they have any additional features for enhancing image quality.
