Mini review of Canon i-sensys LBP6780x laser monochrome printer

November 2012. Canon has announced the expansion of its i-sensys line of laser printers and released six new devices: the i-sensys LBP6780x, i-sensys LBP7780Cx, i-sensys LBP7100Cn, i-sensys LBP7110Cw, i-sensys LBP6310dn and i-sensys LBP7210Cdn. The company also announced the introduction of mobile printing for the i-sensys line with the launch of the Canon Mobile Printing app for iPad and iPhone, which will allow documents, including PDFs, web pages and images, to be printed from iPhone and iPad over the network and will be available for download from the Apple App Store.

A4 laser monochrome printer for medium to large workgroups

The new devices feature fast print speeds, thereby extending the range of speeds available in the i-sensys line of Multifunction Embedded Application Platform MEAP printers. Canon’s flagship mono A4 black and white network printer, the LBP6780x, prints 40 ppm. Features a 5-line LCD display for ease of use and is compatible with Canon’s uniFLOW platform.

Easy installation, easy toner replacement, CAPT Canon Advanced Printing Technology driver, built-in duplex and 768 MB memory module. 1200×1200 dpi print resolution delivers sharp image detail, razor sharp contours, crisp text and smooth greyscale images. The LBP6780x also supports the industry standard PCL5e/6 and Adobe PostScript printing. Fast first page out and instant recovery from sleep mode saves time. First Print Out Time only takes 8.6 seconds.

Built-in Gigabit Ethernet interface allows easy network integration, making it easy to share printing resources and handle demanding workloads. Manufacturer offers data protection with advanced features typically found only in Canon’s imageRUNNER Advance MFP line. IPSec and LAN IEEE 802 compliant.1x.

The LBP6780x comes with a 500-sheet cassette and 100-sheet tray, with the purchase of an additional cassette it can be configured to handle a total of 1600 sheets.

Energy Star certified. Consumes just 660 watts per hour in operation, 15 watts in standby mode, and up to 1 watt in sleep mode, making it highly energy efficient in its class.
