Midea cordless vacuum cleaner test: calling the cyclone for cleaning!

Antoshka stands on a glamorous leg
You think this is a child’s riddle? No, it doesn’t. This is an upright vacuum cleaner. It really stands on one leg, but it easily transforms into a handheld appliance. It’s cordless. Can tame the cyclone whirlwind. Always elegant. Our Midea VSS01A14P-R is another novelty in the segment of wireless vertical vacuum cleaners “two-in-one”. That’s the market trend right now: simpler, affordable, faster. So we decided to test on a specific model, how convenient and useful vertical vacuum cleaners on a battery-powered “traction.

Always in shape- the Midea VSS01A14P-R upright vacuum cleaner

45 seconds for a close encounter

Despite rainy summers, the Midea’s glamorous design immediately puts it in a positive mood. The glossy surface, the buttons, the flowing lines, I like it all! Very stylish! And grey “business suit” of the refined body and burgundy accents speak about serious intentions in respect to cleaning.

Worked it off and off to base. Charging will finish in 4 hours.

The turbo brush that holds everything together

Universal turbo brush with spiral bristles also serves as a platform to park the vacuum cleaner. On a brush mounted hinge mount, which clicks to fix the cleaning tool in a standing position and easily release it for mobile work in all nooks and crannies.

I think any hostess will tell you that the most important thing in a new technique in time to learn: how to turn on and how to disassemble to clean?

Elementary, Watson! As soon as I took the vacuum cleaner by the handle, my thumb hovered over the two buttons: “on-off” and “switch” – to a lower or higher speed. Very convenient, you can clean with one hand!

Midea

High upright vacuum cleaners

Easy to assemble, easy to dismantle

Now time it! I teach new recruits how to disassemble the vacuum cleaner for 45 seconds: unbuckle the brush-soles, carefully extract the hand-held “carcass” from the “boat”. Let’s disconnect the exquisite handle, which is mounted on the latch and screw on the back side

In total – 30 seconds. Another 15 seconds left to break down the “carcass” of the vacuum cleaner into a motor compartment and cyclone filter. You can recover and shake out the trash can – it is small, but quite capacious – 0.3 cubic. m.

Do this a couple of times and get into the “Antoshka” with all my soul. The ergonomics of this novelty as if by me stitched, and therefore the new vacuum cleaner was managed as if he had always lived in the house.

Vacuum cleaners

Starts in 45 seconds: don’t slow down, build it!

After washing, the vacuum cleaner is also easily and effortlessly assembled. And do not think that according to a glorious tradition during the assembly you will again get a Kalashnikov assault rifle. No such thing! “Antoshka” stands on his glamorous leg over and over again with an important look – I saw it myself

I can not hide it, I’m looking closely – whether it will fall from a draught on the parquet? â™Ș Tall, thin, can it stand â™Ș? But there was no hint of a drunken prank! The Lycee’s son explained to me: the upright vacuum cleaner doesn’t budge because the motor and all the weight of the appliance is placed at the very bottom, above the soleplate. It is the law of physics: low center of gravity will never let the upright vacuum cleaner fall.

In general, Chinese manufacturers have reached quite a European level. Everything is well thought out: ergonomics, assembly and disassembly, care. By the way, I have long noticed: if the thing is graceful and comfortable, it almost certainly works well. Let’s check?

Cyclone living at home

“Tonight a woman in years got her feet tangled in the wires
” – that wasn’t me this time. I have a cordless vacuum cleaner! Only the base for recharging has a power unit with a cord, but it is lurking somewhere in a secluded place..

The battery is a lithium-ion, 2200 mA – h capacity, designed for cleaning within 37-55 minutes – depending on the chosen power. The vacuum cleaner can operate in two modes – “full power” and half-power.

Such parameters as the voltage of 25.2 V and the maximum electrical power of 85 watts said little to me, until my son, a physicist, explained that at this voltage the battery will charge better, about four hours, twice as fast as many other brands. But the peak power, according to the young physicist, could be higher – at least 100 watts..

I couldn’t be lazy, so I called the right people: why is your wattage so low?? I got the answer from the other end that more powerful batteries are heavier, more expensive and take longer to charge. And there’s no particular need for excessive power in watts..

Why is that?? I was kindly offered to look at the working turbo-brush of a vacuum cleaner
from the floor, and at the same time wondered what a single cyclone is and what its role is in the daily cleaning of the house.

Turbo Brush on a personal traction

I actually managed to see the brush on the floor side. You won’t believe it, the brush roll was spinning like a drum in a washing machine, at breakneck speed!

It turns out that the brush is powered and the spinning bristles sweep everything in a row – parquet, tile, and even the entrance mat, and the raised suspension is immediately drawn inside the vacuum cleaner. Interesting design: the vacuum cleaner is battery, but the draught is like a stationary one!

And that’s not all. A single cyclone turned out to be a military trick that gives good odds in the eternal war on house dust. I’ve heard before that cyclone filters are replacing the usual dust bags for vacuum cleaners.

My physics major, upon hearing about the cyclone, reminded me of chasing it away in the park from the ride with the chairs on chains. I shudder to recollect: merry-go-round speeds and chairs with screaming audience just about to come off and fly tangentially over the fence ..

So, the centrifugal force of the vacuum cleaner flew over the fence. And in the cyclone filter, the same force is responsible for total garbage collection. This works like this: the engine forces a vortex, inside the vacuum cleaner there is a tornado effect and the centrifugal force twists all dirty particles in an air vortex, which instantly crashes into the walls of the container. On impact, they sharply lose velocity and fall down, literally falling out in the sediment.

Cyclone filter: before and after

It remains to be seen why the battery-powered novelty uses a single cyclone. Usually in stationary vacuum cleaners “hurricane” two cyclones at once – the outer circuit extinguishes large particles, and the inner circuit fishes fine dust.

In the portable ones, where it’s hard to get around, the single cyclone did a pretty good job. Inside there is only one eddy current, but it still flows through a pair of cylindrical mini-bays, sending a variety of suspended sediment.

Midea

A single cyclone took time out

So the cyclone filter is the main one in the Midea vacuum cleaner, but besides it there are three other barriers on the way of dust and dirt: a foam filter, a HEPA fine filter and one more soft filter, located before the motor inlet. Cleaning the air is up to 97 percent. Purified air comes out through the holes on the burgundy sides of the motor compartment.

I can still hear the disgruntled voices: Why go to such technical depths? And I say stop buying a cat in a poke, see the technology. And don’t overpay!

Test on the floor: it’s a vacuum cleaner or a bread maker?

Before the test, for the sake of interest, I took a vertical vacuum cleaner Midea instead of a broom and went through all the dusty places in the apartment. I was surprised how quick and easy it was. It took me about fifteen minutes to do the final cleaning. Went everywhere, including all cracks, baseboards and hidden areas under a lot of sofas and beds..

So the visual test on the camera decided to hold so that everyone could see and understand. For the test I needed about 200 gmuca, fallen on the parquet in two “milky” tracks, and a cordless vacuum cleaner. I deliberately put an extreme layer of flour to really test the claimed suction power.

Vacuum cleaners

Vertical vacuum cleaners

And what do you think? Not counting the photo stops, the vacuum cleaner cleaned up the first track, like riding a bike through the park: it took less than 30 seconds per meter. The turbo brush was so gorgeously sucking up the flour, it looked like a vacuum cleaner baking cakes

The run on the second track went at the same pace. This time I tried to halve the power, and in my opinion the vacuum cleaner didn’t notice it and kept on licking the flour off the floor clean.

In a word, with the suction capacity of the cordless model there was no problem. The big machines with a trunk and a power cord as long as America vacuum with the same pull, but they buzz like crazy and get tangled in the cords now and then.

There are a couple of nuances, though. After cleaning the entire “milky path,” I picked up the vacuum cleaner to take it to the second test. And it went and dumped a handful of flour back in! And what kind of “indigestion” was that??

I found out by experience that for the flour not to go backward, the brush should whirr some more time – after the loose debris disappears from the floor. Apparently, the bristle roller rolls around so fast and swallows so much dust that it doesn’t have time to fly into the trash can.

There’s a second thing you should know ahead of time. When I walked around my daughters’ room with the cyclonic novelty, out of the blue the vacuum began to stutter. When I disassembled the turbo brush and the machine itself, I realized that long hair is better not to offer this vacuum cleaner. I think with pet hair would be a similar situation.

The hairs are immediately wrapped around the turbovalve like a spindle, and it starts to slow down traitorously. The suction power drops dramatically. Basically, it’s no big deal: take it apart, clean it, and move on.

The first test, including a “warm-up” lap around the apartment, took no more than 15 minutes. Good speed for a thorough cleanup! The bin in the vacuum cleaner was about three-quarters full. How would Antoshka do in the carpet test??

Test #2: Calling the vacuum cleaner to the carpet

Perhaps the test with the carpet is not less important than cleaning on the parquet or tile. Although the carpet or carpet takes up less space in the apartment than the rest of the floor, but the fluffy substrate is more capricious and treacherous to any vacuum cleaner.

So, no discounts for carpets! Again I scooped 200 grams of flour to make the “milky way” on the carpet again. Let’s go!

Midea

Vertical Vacuum Cleaners

Midea

Half of the first segment went easily and effortlessly, as on the parquet. Not a single speck of dust on the carpet. And then something went wrong: the flour plume stretched all the way to the edge, which is clearly visible in the photo.

It turns out that two negative factors coincided by chance: a powerful vacuum cleaner sucked not only the flour, but also loose lint from the carpet – a common story for new coatings. And lo and behold, it was at this point that the trash can finally overflowed, and the suction power clearly weakened.

Time for a little “feathering”! It took about three minutes to disassemble, rinse and reassemble, and the light cavalry is ready to attack the dust again. With an empty container, the vacuum cleaner works very effectively, leaving behind just a dream of a housewife – a perfectly clean strip.

The test on the second pass completed in half a minute without a hitch. Got a very fresh track, as if it had just been chipped away in the snow..

The overall impression of cleaning on the carpet is quite positive. The brush glides over the lint quickly and leaves almost no trace. But here’s the thing: if your Persian carpet is big, keep an eye on the dustbin. For washing, I think we have to go every 15-17 minutes, if not more often. Otherwise, the quality of cleaning will be like in a hotel without stars.

Separation from the “shuttle” into a manual format is possible at any time

A test with a crevice nozzle

Do not think that I have run out of flour, but this time I will not whitewash the dough surface. In the complete set of a vacuum cleaner is a crevice nozzle, which will be very handy if the vertical vacuum cleaner is transformed into a manual model: “carcass” of a vacuum cleaner is easily unfastened from the vertical carrier, and the input are two black parts – the adapter and the crevice nozzle with a small comb of bristles.

Midea

Midea

Manual mode outfit

Vacuuming up for a fight! But who will we fight with?? With the skirting boards to begin with. There is not much to show: traction is excellent, dust disappears instantly. The entire baseboard perimeter can be run in a matter of minutes.

What’s next?? I had the fancy to check all the sofas and chairs on the bend. You just can’t get in there, and now I have such a tool! At the same time went over the inside corners of upholstered furniture – there, too, no human vacuum cleaner has ever set foot there before.

It took at most 10-12 minutes to go around baseboards and furniture nooks and crannies. Such a voyage may well be made every other day – not at all tedious, but very, very effective.

Midea

Vertical Vacuum Cleaners

A vertical vacuum cleaner that’s gone all manual

I had another idea – to go down to the parking lot and clean the interior of the car. What I did. But I don’t really like the idea. The corners I cleaned on five points, no doubt, but for cars need another nozzle, wider, like a turbo brush, to go thoroughly through all the seats and what’s hidden under the rubber mats in manual format.

I tried to adapt the car for the regular turbo brush, but it refuses to be attached to the vacuum cleaner in manual format. And with a stick that long, you don’t really get into the interior..

The result of the test with a crevice nozzle is as follows: it is effective for cleaning in hard-to-reach places, the thrust is such that the loose cloth sticks. However, the set is clearly asking for another brush – to work in manual format. Then the Midea upright vacuum cleaner’s “radius of action” becomes extremely versatile.

Test results: to buy or not to buy?

The criterion for me is simple: if you want to buy it, it means that the device has passed the test. While you’re fiddling with your new device, you’ll see all the details behind the scenes, you can’t fool yourself..

Absolutely, the vertical vacuum cleaner Midea passed the test. I want the same! Very handy thing! And I don’t mind some of the typical limitations of cordless models. Let’s list it honestly:

– Operating time on a single charge varies from 37 to 55 minutes, depending on the speed of the engine. Not enough will be? I guess, but for the daily express cleaning is enough. Charging time is about 4 hours

– The small garbage can fills up quickly, so the vacuum’s suction power drops off sharply. The container will have to be cleaned two or three times in one cleaning. So what? The operation only takes one or two minutes

– Turbo brush and cyclone filter design is such that even a small bundle of hair or pet hair can slow down the express cleaning. What’s the problem?? We don’t have a cat or dog. You don’t have to spread your hair all over the floor.

The price of the novelty is quite affordable – about 7 thousand Dollars.

Midea

Vacuum cleaner has good suction power, it is easy to use and easy to maintain.

Vacuum cleaners

Only two nozzles, in my opinion, too little, not suitable for pet lovers.

Always yours, Midea vacuum cleaner!
