MEIZU smartphones: in America there are almost iPhones, but twice cheaper

At the end of May 2012 in the premises of Flacon Design Factory a presentation of smartphones of Chinese brand MEIZU – one of the most successful Chinese smartphone manufacturers. The event announced the official start of sales of MEIZU smartphones in America. Specifications of gadgets from MEIZU allow them to compete on equal terms with the leaders in the smartphone market, experts believe, especially since their price is more affordable.

MEIZU

“Good artists copy, great artists steal” or how we got almost an iPhone

Fame MEIZU company outside of native China began with a scandal: At CeBIT in Hannover in 2008 the first model of the smartphone MEIZU M8 was seized by police from the company’s booth. The reason for the lawsuit was the Apple, who considered the device too similar to the iPhone. Despite this or maybe because of it , the smartphone has been noticed by experts and even evaluated, noting the unusual for the Chinese manufacturer quality of assembly, materials and adaptation of the operating system.

By the time the next model MEIZU M9 was launched the brand already had an army of fans. And with each day of sales this army grew, allowing the company to meet the annual sales plan for the first quarter and firmly occupy its unique niche in the market.

Following the precepts of Steve Jobs, who has repeatedly cited the famous aphorism of Pablo Picasso “Good artists copy, great artists – steal” “Good artists copy, great artists – steal” , MEIZU adopted the spirit of Apple. Not the design, not the technology they are just different, and sometimes – superior , but the very global idea – to create a simple and understandable at a glance the gadget, which would be an “extension” of man.

How right the idea was, proved the huge queues of fans, which lined up in front of branded MEIZU stores across China the night before the launch of the third model – MEIZU MX smartphone.

America is the first country after China, where the iPhone is officially launched

“We got interested in MEIZU brand back in 2009 – one look at their first model was enough to understand that the prospects of the company are very high. – says Igor Sych, CEO of TelecomInfoProject, an exclusive distributor of MEIZU in America. – It was the case when not a manufacturer is looking for a distributor, but on the contrary. We were only able to start in 2011 – MEIZU was not interested in entering the foreign market, but we were able to change their minds. America has become the first country, after China, where MEIZU is officially represented.

MEIZU plans for American market are still quite modest: in the first year of sales the company plans to sell up to 150,000 smartphones, and thus take up to 1% of this market.

It is expected that the choice in favor of MEIZU will make, above all, young people who need a fully functional and comfortable smartphone at a reasonable price. Although it is possible that MEIZU will find its fans in the corporate segment as well – the Android platform, rich functionality and modest price could attract the attention of large and medium-sized businesses.

MEIZU is distinguished by very high quality components and a perfectly harmonious combination thereof. The brand manages to break the stereotype of the low quality of Chinese products – in this case the quality is premium.

The flagship of the line – MEIZU MX Quad-core, a beautiful screen, great sound and processor, thanks to which some experts have dubbed this smartphone “the fastest in the world. Two video cameras and DLNA support complete the features required for a top-of-the-line modern smartphone.

How much does Chinese happiness cost?

At the same cost MEIZU lower than competitors. As of today MEIZU M9 costs 12,777 Dollars, and the dual-core MEIZU MX – 17,977. The American price of the new MEIZU MX Quad-core is not yet known, but it is expected to be about 24,000 Dollars.
