Media player – the player of the 21st century

HD format has long been a common picture standard. We are surrounded by more and more devices that create high-resolution images – these are computer monitors, Full HD LCD TVs, cameras, camcorders and smartphone screens. The question what to record HD quality picture with and what to watch it on, is no longer relevant, now it’s important to know what device is better faster cheaper to use for high definition image playback.

The most common sources of high-definition video are now laser Blu-ray disc players and media players. Blu-ray disc players are more common, since they look a lot like the DVD players we all know. The media player has only recently been available, but it’s already a strong alternative to a laser disc player. And even more, if you compare the two types of playback equipment, it turns out that the player has almost no advantages over the media player.

The player doesn’t have much internal memory – only the disc inserted into it, a DVD, CD or BD, is actually its memory. The media player allows many dozens of full-length HD movies hundreds of DVD-quality movies and thousands of CD-DA songs to be stored on the built-in hard drive this applies to players with a disc slot .

The player usually does not have serious network capabilities. At the same time, most media players can be connected to a wired network, and some of the most advanced models can be connected to wireless using an adapter, allowing you to download movies and music, even on the move.

The player is typically a highly specialized device for playing a limited number of file formats from two or three disc types, such as BD/DVD/CD or DVD-Video/DVD-Audio, while even the simplest media player can play virtually any popular picture and sound format.

The weak point of conventional players is the laserdisc drive itself. Even the best drives have a losing read rate, resulting in image and sound noise and distortion. The media player reads information from much more noise-resistant media – hard disc or removable media – flash discs or memory cards, and not only the quality is higher, but also the speed, which is especially important when playing high-definition records, which take up a lot of space.

The issue of price has also not been cancelled – Blu-ray discs are still too expensive to compete with the Internet, in fact the price of a Blu-ray disc is the cost of one, if not two months of unlimited access, for which you can download, without exaggeration, hundreds of movies.

Finally, a significant advantage of the media player is its small size and light weight, because it does not have a laser disc drive, which requires a stabilized power supply and powerful, and therefore heavy, transformers.

BBK has created one – the LMP3229HDU. Externally it is no different from other LCD TVs with built-in USB port.
