Panasonic is introducing a new addition to its TZ family of digital cameras – the 18.1-megapixel LUMIX DMC-TZ40, equipped with a wide-angle LEICA DC lens at 24 mm focal length and 20× optical zoom 24-480 mm in 35 mm camera equivalent . The 18.1 megapixel MOS sensor and Venus Engine image processor offer high light sensitivity and superb shooting speed, making it possible to shoot Full HD video at 1920×1080 50p PAL .

Thanks to the Wi-Fi and NFC support, you can connect the camera to your smartphone with a single touch. You can also display the camera’s image directly on your smartphone screen, so you can remotely control focus, zoom and shutter release.

The DMC-TZ40 is also equipped with built-in GPS and GLONASS for even greater location accuracy. There is also a database with information on many attractions, as well as a compass, which will be appreciated by those who like to travel.

You can control autofocus, zoom, and shutter speed by touching the screen’s new 3.0′ LCD touchscreen with 920000 dots.

The DMC-TZ40 features a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR wide-angle lens with a 24mm focal length and 20× optical zoom 24-480mm in 35mm camera equivalent .

The lens features 12 elements in 10 groups, including 2 extra-low dispersion lenses and 3 aspherical lenses with 6 aspherical surfaces. And with the Smart Zoom function, you can zoom in up to 40× without any loss of quality.

18.1 megapixel MOS sensor and Venus Engine image processor

The DMC-TZ40 comes equipped with a new 18.1 megapixel MOS sensor for superior image processing speed. The redesigned Venus Engine image processor features Wavelet NR noise reduction technology with a special focus on low-frequency noise, increasing the camera’s sensitivity to ISO 6400 in expanded mode .

The DMC-TZ40 is equipped with Wi-Fi and NFC, giving you incomparable flexibility in shooting and sharing your photos and videos. You can stream images from the camera to your smartphone screen at 30 fps, and control zoom, focus, shutter speed, exposure compensation, aperture, and shutter release. All these unique features are made possible by the Panasonic Image App for iOS/Android.

Full HD movies and HYBRID O Optical Image Stabilization System.I.S.+

The DMC-TZ40 can capture video at 1920×1080 50p PAL . They are also equipped with HYBRID O five-axis optical image stabilization system.I.S.+, Which effectively detects and compensates for camera movement, preventing blurred images. And the built-in level detects camera tilt and helps level the image.

GPS navigation and LCD touch screen

The DMC-TZ40 is equipped with GPS and GLONASS to improve positioning accuracy. There is also a database with information about many places of interest. New 3.0′ LCD touch screen allows you to use gestures to easily zoom in and out, which is especially handy when working with a map.
