LG unveils smart Hom-Bot Square at IFA 2013 in creative display format

LG Electronics LG will unveil its newest square robot vacuum cleaner, the smart Hom-Bot Square, at IFA 2013 in Berlin, Germany. The smart Hom-Bot Square offers users a much better level of cleaning quality, thanks in large part to the impressive Corner Master. What’s more, LG’s new robot vacuum cleaner includes innovative smart features like Smart Control, Cleaning History, Smart Diagnosis and a Software Update that lets the user remotely control Hom-Bot Square from anywhere in the home using their smartphone.

“From the beginning of the development of this innovative product, we assumed that our customers’ homes consist of rectangular rather than rounded corners,” said Song-jin Joe, President and Chief Executive Officer CEO of LG Electronics Home Appliance. – So it made sense to create a vacuum cleaner that takes this into account. The smart Hom-Bot Square cleans hard-to-reach places effortlessly thanks to the Corner Cleaner Wizard function. What’s more, users can now control and monitor their vacuum cleaning robot through their smartphones.

This year at IFA, robot vacuum cleaners will show their incredible maneuverability in a well staged room. An entertaining demonstration of the vacuum cleaner’s capabilities will be available at selected times during the exhibition.

Quiet but thorough in its work

LG’s smart Hom-Bot Square robot vacuum cleaner cleans quickly and efficiently thanks to the Corner Master, which consists of two long brushes, sensors that lock corners, and a unique vacuum cleaner shape. With its square shape and new 1.5-cm-long brushes, the Hom-Bot Square can pick up dust and dirt even in the hardest-to-reach places. Angle-fixing sensors allow the vacuum cleaner to precisely locate its position in the home, telling it when to turn or when it has reached the boundary of the room.

The usual robot vacuums have a single video camera. The newest Hom-Bot Square uses two improved Dual Eye 2 cameras.0, helping to make cleaning even smarter, faster and more efficient. Capturing several frames per second, the upper and lower cameras efficiently scan ceilings, walls and floors, even in the dark. The information is then analyzed by intelligent Hom-Bot Square to create a better cleaning map.

At the same time, multiple sensors detect all obstacles within a 180-degree radius, taking into account the huge number of surfaces in order to avoid collisions during operation. Smart Hom-Bot Square can recognize places it has already cleaned thanks to its learning function. It helps to remember the location of objects and identify already clean places, reducing unnecessary repetitions.

An unbelievable low noise level of just 60 dBA ensures that the Hom-Bot Square robot vacuum cleaner won’t distract its owners from watching TV, talking on the phone, or reading a book. The sleek body is only 89mm tall, allowing the cleaner to move around the house easily, climbing under most furniture.

The enlarged, quick-release dust canister of the smart LG Hom-Bot Square makes cleaning even easier, allowing you to clean the vacuum less often. Unlike other robot vacuum cleaners, which have the dustbin on the side, it is placed on top for fast, hygienic cleaning. Enlarged and improved HEPA 11 filter is able to separate dust particles from the air more thoroughly, as well as reduce unpleasant odors in the home.

Turbo mode lets you manually adjust the vacuum to best suit your floor environment, while Smart Turbo automatically senses the floor and adjusts settings for optimal cleaning.

Smarter operation with more control

LG’s newest Hom-Bot Square robot vacuum cleaner is also equipped with advanced smart technology. For instance, Smart Control lets you control the vacuum cleaner from anywhere in your home with your smartphone. This completely eliminates the need to manually run the vacuum cleaner or search for the remote control around the house.

The Cleaning History feature allows consumers to easily check the results of the Smart Hom-Bot Square. What’s more, by using the Map View feature, you can see which parts of your home have been cleaned by the vacuum cleaner, allowing users to decide whether to continue cleaning. Consumers can also easily set a cleaning schedule with LG’s advanced robot vacuum cleaner via their smartphone.

Buyers will appreciate an array of other features, such as voice control that includes recognition of more than 90 commands. Smart Diagnosis makes troubleshooting even easier by quickly alerting owners to even the smallest problems, such as sensor problems, and suggesting possible solutions.

Improved battery retains charge longer, enabling longer, attention-free automatic cleaning. You can also easily update the new Hom-Bot software or install a new one via your smartphone.
