LG’s 88-inch OLED 8K TV is available now

LG Electronics LG announces the launch of OLED-TV with 8K resolution model 88Z9 . Pre-orders for the 88-inch TV will start being taken in South Korea this week. The model will be available in key North American and European markets in the third quarter of this year.

The 88-inch TV uses an advanced panel with more than 33 million self-luminous pixels. They provide the highest picture quality of LG OLED TVs, delivering the most realistic colors, including deep black, with a wide viewing angle and excellent contrast.

Images on this 88-inch TV are exceptionally sharp with 8K Ultra HD resolution 7680 x 4320 , 16 times the pixels of Full HD and four times the pixels of UHD.

The superior performance of the LG 8K OLED panel is enhanced by the second-generation α Alpha 9 Gen 2 8K intelligent processor.

The processor enhances picture and sound quality through deep learning technology and access to an extensive database of visual information. This allows it to optimize content by recognizing source quality and implementing the best algorithm to guarantee stunningly realistic images.

With the α9 Gen 2 8K, LG’s 88-inch 8K OLED TV boasts enhanced image processing capabilities with efficient 8K scaling and improved noise reduction – up to 6 steps compared to 4 steps in the 4K version.

The result is the most realistic 8K picture possible when updating content with 4K 3840 x 2160 or 2K 1920 x 1080 resolution. The processor also analyzes environmental conditions to achieve ideal screen brightness levels.

The LG 88Z9’s impressive sound quality enhances the immersive experience with an intelligent algorithm capable of mixing two-channel audio for a compelling virtual surround sound 5.1. Applying deep learning technology significantly improves output by analyzing raw content and creating better sound effects in movies, deeper bass in music and clearer voices in sporting events. Users can adjust the sound to suit the viewing environment or let the TV set the most appropriate sound levels depending on the environment.

For superior HDR quality, the LG 8K OLED TV features Dolby Atmos technology for incredibly realistic sound and intelligently customizable Dolby Vision-compatible content. TV supports HDMI 2.1, as well as Automatic Low Latency Mode ALLM , Variable Refresh Rate VRR and Enhanced Audio Return Channel eARC .

In some markets, the LG 8K OLED TV will come out with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa built-in for maximum flexibility and ease of control of the TV and connected smart devices.
