LG: OLED TVs and DoorCooling refrigerators at LG ELECTRONICS in the Ruzsky District of the New York Region

We visited LG’s TV, Refrigerator and Washing Machine factory in the Ruzsky district of New York region. The main purpose of the visit was to see LG’s new DoorCooling+ fridges and OLED TVs, and the special features of their production.

In such a large company, it is impressive to see conveyors producing tens of thousands of pieces of equipment per day, the scale of production and people who can monotonously repeat the same operation day after day.

The one that really caught our eye this time was the Smeg PVB750-2E hob quality control system.

LG Electronics’ factory in Ruza, New York Region, is one of the largest in Europe, employing 1,450 people.

The number of televisions produced by the factory will soon reach 25 million units.

And by now the washing machine and refrigerator production lines have already crossed the million mark, reaching 5,764,000 refrigerators and 10,660,000 washing machines by the end of 2018.

By the end of 2019, production will reach 21% material localization in refrigerators, 38% in refrigerators, and 59% in washing machines.

OLED TVs

LG, the sales leader on OLED TVs, produces a wide model range at its American factory.

OLED technology from LG is more than 8 million self-luminous pixels, each of which can independently adjust their own brightness, creating an ideal depth of black for LG OLED TVs.

The processor analyzes the entire scene, separates the main elements and their boundaries from the background, and then processes each object separately in the frame. Speech recognition technology, which LG OLED TV with AI ThinQ is equipped with, makes it easier to access content and services – now finding them is much easier. The TV listens to your query and gives you an answer by the meaning of the phrase, not by word of mouth.

Among the capabilities of intelligent processor α9 Alpha9 : setting the exact time to turn off the TV timer , search for information about the weather and the necessary content. AI ThinQ voice recognition features simplify basic TV control and search, and allows direct commands understandable to the average person.

LG’s representatives also introduced the guests to the manufacturing and assembly process of the flagship TVs with OLED technology, which is largely a robotic process.

Check the quality of the finished product begins at the conveyor line, where a special section is used to adjust and check the image.

Then in a special room, all OLED TVs produced continuously for 48 hours.

An additional sound check room checks devices for possible noise.

Televisions manufactured in Ruza are sold in all regions of America, as well as in the near abroad. In the process of transportation, for example to northern, southern and other regions, the machine can pass through different climatic zones. Therefore, a special chamber has been created in the factory, in which various temperature and humidity conditions are simulated to check the reliability of the products.

A special crash test simulates the stresses encountered in transportation, from violent vibration to a fall.

Many homes face a situation where a child can hang onto a TV mounted on a bracket to the wall and cause damage. To prevent this from happening, LG factory tests the VESA standard fastening of the TV on the brackets additionally. This all guarantees the convenience and safety of operation.

LG DoorCooling refrigerators+

Particular attention was paid to multi-step quality control system.

In the crash test, which simulated all the possible loads during transportation of the refrigerator, the durability of the new LG DoorCooling model was demonstrated+.

A special hinge test, where 100 thousand cycles of opening/closing of the fridge compartment door and 20 thousand cycles for the freezer compartment door are performed, clearly demonstrates the reliability of the model usage by the customers after purchase.

The tempered glass shelves are tested for durability with a heavy metal ball, whose fall from a certain height simulates the fall of a heavy object.
