LG at IFA-2011: LG Smart Fridge Tells You What’s Yummy. On the Internet.

At IFA-2011, LG Electronics LG is introducing a broad line of its smart home appliances for the first time in Europe. LG demonstrates what economy and comfort can be achieved in everyday life of a consumer with a “smart” refrigerator, “smart” washing machine, “smart” oven and “smart” robot-vacuum cleaner.

LG relies on four key technologies to create its smart home appliances – Linear Compressor™, Inverter Direct Drive™, Lightwave and KOMPRESSOR™ dust-pressing technology – as well as its Smart ThinQ™ technology, including Smart Manager, Smart Diagnosis™, Smart Access, Smart Adapt and Smart Grid. Combined with LG product features, these unique technologies deliver eco-friendly operation while saving energy, effort and time.

Dishwashers

Energy-efficient smart refrigerator features Smart Manager technology that indicates location, expiration dates, quantities and nutritional information. Smart Manager allows you to efficiently monitor the contents of your refrigerator or check what’s left in it using your smartphone right from the grocery store.

The fridge recommends tasty dishes that can be prepared with the ingredients it contains and even offers entertainment features such as news, music and social networking.

LG unveils Smart Eco Door, the world’s first door-in-door fridge-freezer at the IFA. A smaller door built into a regular door provides simplified access to the most popular products, helping to reduce energy consumption.

In addition to smart appliances, LG will showcase an ultra-energy-efficient A+++ bottom freezer fridge – the first model with a 385-litre capacity at such a high level of energy efficiency.

“LG’s exhibit at IFA-2011 will focus on energy savings and increased convenience,” said Young-ha Lee, President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Appliance. – “LG’s core technologies combine with home appliance functionality to deliver outstanding results, greater convenience and energy efficiency. Smart ThinQ technologyTM Makes it easier to use and manage the appliances, solving problems and, above all, controlling the appliances just the way the consumer wants them.”.

LG will also introduce Smart Diagnosis™, which helps to troubleshoot appliances quickly and efficiently through a phone or smartphone app, thereby reducing the need for inconvenient and sometimes costly service calls and house calls. And the Smart Access feature creates added convenience by allowing you to control appliances remotely via your smartphone.

Washing machines

Consumers can spend less time cleaning their apartment by turning their robotic vacuum cleaner on and off and watching it while away from home. Smart Adapt function allows consumers to download new, advanced programs and update the software of their devices.

LG smart washing machine users can load new custom wash cycles, such as Super Rinse or Baby Sanitize. Smart Adapt gives customers all the benefits of LG’s latest technology without having to buy new equipment. So consumers can keep their appliances state-of-the-art throughout their entire life cycle.

Microwave ovens

The 12kg front-loading washer, featuring LG technologies such as Direct Drive, 6 Motion and TrueSteam™, combines the highest capacity in standard sizes with 20 per cent more energy efficiency than conventional Class A washers+++. In addition, this washing machine is reliable and environmentally friendly.

Another exhibit at the fair is LG’s revolutionary vacuum cleaner with smart sensors which meticulously and easily cleans following the user’s lead.

Vacuum cleaners for dry vacuuming

The award-winning Lightwave Convection Oven uses a world-first Charcoal Lighting Heater™, an extremely natural element that helps cook gourmet foods naturally, healthily and easily.

LG Styler is a new concept of a clothes manager, which takes care of everyday clothes, eliminating creases and unpleasant odors, as well as sterilizing them with steam. LG will also exhibit stylish, harmonious built-in appliances that represent the culmination of the company’s four core technologies.
