APPEARANCE AND ERGONOMICS
The device is housed in a black, easy-to-clean plastic case. For ease of operation, MFP can be installed on a stand with wheels, the inner space is designed to store paper. Color-matched design makes it almost invisible during the test, the machine was mounted on a different-colored pedestal, not included in the package .
Handles extend from the bottom of the case for transportation.
All device operations are accessible from the front: control panel functions, USB-host for quick flash files, paper loading, cartridge replacement. Makes for compact office space.

PAPER SUPPLY
Paper feed capacity based on maximum sheet thickness of 0.11mm. MFP in its basic configuration is equipped with a duplex document feeder, a 50-sheet reversing ADF, two 500-sheet cassettes and a 100-sheet multi-functional tray. Ability to handle A3-size paper and print in color on heavyweight paper between 60 g/m2 to 256 g/m2 to cover 80% of your office workload. Media capacity can be increased up to 2,100 sheets with optional media trays.
To open the paper cassette, light pressure is needed on the paper feed knob. The “plus” of this solution is that the design eliminates the accidental pulling out of cassettes during use or their “flying out” when transporting the device. “Minus” – some users will try to “pull” the tray out of the machine without pressing, breaking the inner holders.
FUNCTIONALITY
Installing drivers and connecting the MFP is standard and requires very little time. TASKalfa 2550ci supports a variety of printing and copying functions which can be selected in the driver or on the control panel. Driver is russified and makes it possible not only to select printing parameters, media format, adjust colors, but also to check the consumable life.
The device fully meets the needs of the modern office: it offers network printing in A4 and A3 format in color and monochrome mode, printing envelopes and other non-standard media, quick printing from USB-drives and electronic document management functions: scanning files in all common formats to a flash drive, a network folder, an FTP-server or by e-mail.
There is compression and encryption of digital documents in PDF format. The device handles jobs quickly and when printing/scanning/copying large files almost immediately it performs as advertised. Notably, the noise level of MFPs in print mode is comparable with that of desktop models – 63.8 dB.

MFP is easy to use despite its high functionality. All necessary functions are shown on panels or assembled into menu items that can be navigated through touch-screen controls.
Printing with original toner gives guaranteed high quality prints. If color toner runs out, it doesn’t prevent the machine from printing black and white prints, which reduces downtime. By the way, you don’t have to buy a new cartridge very often because the manufacturer offers high-capacity consumables black toner for 12 000 prints .
The device is designed for office work, and it does it well: it clearly prints small characters even in pin 2, renders halftones and grayscale with high quality. Kyocera toner contains tiny ceramic particles which polish the drum during the operation thus prolonging its life span – up to 200 000 copies.
COST-EFFECTIVE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
Like all Kyocera devices TASKalfa 2550ci is based on Ecosys technology and is equipped with separate consumables. If toner runs out, users only need to replace the toner cartridge, which is less harmful to the environment compared to the use of single cartridges, combined with the image drum. By the way, Ecosys is celebrating 20 years of technology in 2012.
Power consumption is reduced to 651W when printing, 145W in standby mode and 16W in sleep mode.

If a paper jam occurs, which is unlikely, it is easy to remove it – MFPs show prompts on the display. By the way, the machine proved to be resistant to “provocation”: it could not jam the first time – even a sheet folded on its long side, loaded in the ADF and in the paper cassette, got through the printing channel easily.
Considering the love of American users for forceful methods, Kyocera made it easier to remove the sheet from the fuser – it is enough to slowly pull the sheet towards yourself, no manipulations such as releasing “levers” are required. The “fuser” itself is also easy to remove if necessary.
