Karaoke DVD Player BBK DVP752HD: this is the first machine of the company with a vertical load (TopLoad)

BBK Company positions this unit as its first DVD player with vertical loading TopLoad . As the device is a designer one, there are several colors of the case for any taste: dark gray, black, white and silver combined with dark gray.

Design

When you first look at the DVP752HD, you notice the unusual design – the loading of the disc is from the top, just like in portable DVD players. The case of the unit itself is also not large. I can also think of the very first CD-players released in the early 80’s, if anyone still remembers them.

The shape of the case is round. The rounded concept continues with the shape of the buttons – there are three of them at the top – with the most essential functions. The remote control is traditional for “BBK” players, narrower to the bottom – trapeze. By the way, it is smaller in size in comparison with other remotes, the general concept of the product is kept. The model has a small screen with yellowish small characters, and the entire interface is located on the back.

Interface

On the back we can see the composite video output, analog stereo RCA, HDMI 1.3, coaxial audio output, microphone input 3.5 mm and USB port. Certainly the microphone input and USB connector would look more logically in front, but maybe in this way BBK designers wanted to emphasize the compactness of the system, – “nothing will stick out from the front”.

Media player

The player reads flash drives formatted in FAT 16 and FAT 32, – so you can forget about “heavy” mkv. The test flash drive 32 Gb with a large number of files and levels the device reads in 8 seconds. No problems with reading the tested files, both video and audio. No lags, slowdowns, freezes when rewinding and other “bad things” were noticed.

Drive

We took a dusty pirated CD for our test, and the system coped with it without any problems. No problems with self-recorded DVDs either. According to the New York office of the company: “In all models of BBK players, we use high-sensitivity optics from leading manufacturers of components.

Indeed, the player is “omnivorous” and undemanding to the quality of the disk.

Functionality

The player has an advanced karaoke function that assigns points depending on the efforts and skills of the vocalist. Apparently, to motivate the users the microphone is not present, but there is a karaoke disk for 500 songs.

Like all of the company’s DVD players, the device has a Q-Play feature, which allows you to avoid watching obtrusive ads. There is also a function to copy files to a USB flash drive. Audio files CD-RIP function when ripped will be compressed with specified bitrate, you can also create ID3 tags for them.

A similar function is available for video files – Copy Function. But there is no compression for video. There is also a content control, – the possibility of entering a code, short circuit protection and automatic voltage selection.

The player has a “Virtual Control Panel” function – you can display virtual keys that repeat the joystick on the remote control and control the main functions with the joystick keys of the remote control.

There is a function “Browser”, clearly shows as a “time line”, how long the movie is. The device can upscale video to Full HD resolution, the video DAC 108 MHz/12 bit, so the HDMI port is not just “another jack” but is a functionally necessary element of the interface.

The audio part is not ignored: 192 kHz/24-bit DAC, Dolby Digital, DTS and LPCM soundtracks can be output via coaxial, and the menu offers seven equalizer settings.

Picture

Considering the price, no complaints to the image. By the way, the menu has a lot of adjustments to the image – you can “tweak” sharpness, gamma, brightness, contrast, hue and saturation, if the operator when shooting film cheated. Via HDMI the picture is sharper, which is natural for a digital connection.

Summary:

When tested, the DVP752HD easily coped with the functions declared by the manufacturer, and the unusual design distinguishes it from other similar devices.

Joyful: designer case, choice of colors.

A shame: the USB-port is in the back, flash drives in NTFS are not readable.

Tip: if you plan to use the built-in media player, stock up on a USB extension cord.
