Intel® Xeon® processor E7 v3 family introduced in America

Dmitry Konash, regional director of Intel in America and other CIS countries, noted that new processors show 20 new world records of performance in different critical applications, providing 40% higher performance level comparing to previous generation products1. In addition, with the Intel® Xeon® E7 v3 family, it becomes possible to run up to 70% more analytical sessions per hour2, as well as up to six times the performance level of business applications for in-memory transaction processing workloads3.

Intel® Xeon® E7 v3 products deliver up to 10x greater performance per dollar and lower total cost of ownership than alternative RISC architectures4 by reducing the cost of purchasing hardware, power and cooling costs. Processors support configurations with 32 processor slots5 max. and the highest memory capacity per processor slot6 systems with 8 processor slots can support up to 12 TBytes of DDR3 or DDR4 memory . Novelties can include up to 18 cores, as well as up to 45 MBytes of cache memory. Intel® Xeon® E7 v3 features new security and reliability features, including increased encryption performance with the latest Intel® Advanced Encryption Standard New Instructions set Intel® AES-NI . The new family takes the previously used Intel® Run Sure technology and includes a unique set of features for reliability, availability and usability. This was accomplished with 2 new features to ensure 99.999% availability of mission-critical applications.

“The new Intel Xeon E7 v3 processors are the best of the best that Intel has to offer its partners and customers,” said Dmitry Konash, Intel Regional Director for America and other CIS countries. – Designed for mission-critical tasks and huge volumes of data directly in memory, they provide 6 times more performance than their predecessors in processing financial transactions and information contained in huge databases.

Dmitry also noted that in the era of modern technology business strategy can not be limited to mere automation of processes. Various organizations, computing complexes, transactional systems generate huge amounts of data. Their rapid growth, as well as cloud computing and mobile technologies, oblige companies to develop new approaches to business and accelerate data processing. That’s why data analysis and real-time decision making are becoming more and more important. Intel® Xeon® E7 v3 make it possible to solve these tasks. Thanks to the high performance, reliability features and enhanced analytical capabilities of new products, businesses can gain new competitive advantages and reach a new level.

Real-time business intelligence is in demand by companies in a variety of industries, from healthcare and retail to telecommunications. The need to quickly extract actionable information from large amounts of raw data is driving the demand for new technologies for in-memory computing and big data analysis.

Alexander Starygin, director of engineering solutions department of HP in America, noted that processing of practical information, which previously took days to weeks, with Intel processors® Xeon® became available in real time. If 25 years ago microelectronics capabilities allowed to perform about 6 transactions per minute, today the number of transactions per minute has increased to more than 60 million, while the server price has reduced by approximately 12 times.

Valery Sysik, Director of Strategic Projects at PETER-SERVICE*, illustrating the particular importance of using Intel Xeon E7 processors in online transactions, compared the challenges the telecommunications industry faced 25 years ago with those it faces now: “In 1995 it seemed a technological challenge for us to write a billing specification for 50,000 subscribers of North-West GSM *, and this year we plan to serve 100,000,000 subscribers in a single BSS-solution of Megafon *, – said Valery. – Despite the fact that now most users have multiple SIM cards and actually already make calls without restrictions, we are waiting for a new period of growth. Intel Xeon E7 v3 processors will play an important role in it.
