Key features of the Genuino 101 breadboard

The Genuino 101* is not only simple to use and great for learning the basics of digital design, but can also be used to prototype technology products with advanced networking and computing, courtesy of Intel Curie.

The new product is offered at a price comparable to the entry-level microcontroller boards currently available on the market, and includes an accelerometer, gyroscope and Bluetooth Smart* technology to create smart devices with advanced networking capabilities.

The new board complements the Arduino* open source radio electronics platform, which brings together free sample hardware designs, a broad ecosystem of third-party components, and a programming environment that greatly simplifies interactive project creation for users with any level of technical expertise.

“Supporting aspiring entrepreneurs and students has always been important to Intel, and through our partnership with Arduino*, we are bringing the benefits of Intel technology to a new generation of tech enthusiasts,” said Josh Walden, senior vice president and head of Intel’s New Technology Group. – “With the advanced functionality of the Intel Curie module implemented in Genuino 101*, students and developers will be able to create truly unique smart solutions with advanced networking capabilities.”.

The Intel Curie-based board will also be used as a development tool by participants in America’s Greatest Makers, a new show that in 2016. Will be broadcast on Turner Broadcasting* and other digital platforms. The show will be produced by Mark Burnett, CEO of United Artists Media Group*.

Using Genuino 101* in learning environments

The Genuino 101* will be included in the Creative Technologies in the Classroom* CTC computer training course developed and tested by Arduino*. The new curriculum is currently being implemented in more than 300 schools. CTC – the world’s first computer training

course for elementary and middle schools, which provides teachers with all the tools and support they need to introduce students to the basics of programming, radio electronics and mechanics. Intel is actively partnering with Arduino* to bring the program to schools around the world. Genuino 101* will grow the next generation of IT professionals, entrepreneurs and inventors.

“We worked closely with Intel to develop this board and are expanding our curriculum to include advanced networking features and other technical capabilities needed by today’s tech-savvy students,” said Massimo Banzi, co-founder and CEO of Arduino*. – Through our partnership with Intel we have been able to access a worldwide community of aspiring technology enthusiasts and students and we now offer an even more advanced platform that will allow them to realize all their technical projects.

Price and affordability

Genuino 101* will go on sale in Q1. 2016 g. At a recommended retail price of $30 about 27 euros .

The Intel-produced board will be offered under the Arduino 101* brand in the U.S. and under the Genuino 101* brand in other countries.

The new products will be distributed through distributors and retailers including: Amazon*, Conrad Electronic*, Farnell Element 14*, Microcenter*, Mouser*, RadioShack*, RS Components* and SparkFun*.
