Looks, package and ergonomics

What the competition and the market has done! On the black package in a matte finish, the ears are folded in the shape of a musical lyre. This is the cherry on the cake to a comprehensive set of equipment and information support. Melomaniacs are used to the fact that the main innovations in the world of music burst from China, a little less often from Korea, USA, England and Germany. But who would have thought the company Meze, headquartered in Romania, would join the ranks of the grandees?? If it’s up, you have to match it.

From the box we managed to take out headphones in a hard case similar to a round bun with brand logo, 4 pairs of silicone tips of different sizes, a pair of foam Comply and a clothespin for fixing the wire.

The body of the headphones is made of aluminum, I received the ears in dark gray metallic, the same GUN METAL. And could come in another color – IRIDIUM, so “Champagne”, also looks very impressive.

Cable is pretty solid, made of oxygen-free copper, straight jack – 3.5 mm. On the cable, under the right hand, there is a microphone with a soft button. In every detail you can see how reverently the authors treat their product. Everything is clear, starting from the quality of assembly and materials to the design, color and logo. The MEZE 11 NEO pleases the eye even from the showcase, not yet turned on, but only touched, and already loved..

Sound

Listening was done on a MyST DAC 1866OCU V.2, Lotoo paw Gold, Sony PCM-D100, Hifiman HM-601, QLS QA-360 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone. The headphones played back with all sources on a proper level.

I would describe the sound of MEZE 11 NEO as rather smooth, tending to neutral… The delivery is almost linear, with a slight and comfortable boost in the midbass area. The way they even reminded me of the older model – Meze 99 Classics. They have similar nature: good and dense punch, deep bass, amazingly musical midrange with good detail and a little bit restrained, but clear treble. Well done, respect and bow to the waist!

I liked how the new headphones played back with Lotoo paw Gold. The “sound pavilion” looks great. Ears perfectly draw the depth of the musical canvas. Overtones are transmitted amazingly. Unexpectedly for a dynamo, and for its price category.

Ian Brown – stellify

Dense good punch on the bass, the bass is very well controlled, a little “grease”, but not too much. Very well readable vocals of “Vanya Brown”, all these echo effects with reverse – just like hypnotizing. The keys sound distinctly in “tact relationship” with the bass guitar. Powerful, very melodic and driving pitch, class!

Oh, that magically floating half-slap bass of Mick Carne, charming, however, no less charming and “bowed” vocals of David Sylvian … Who knows what we are talking about, will understand.

The cymbals, the hi-hat sound accurate, precise, but with a slight simplification, however, the pickings here are negligible. The keys are kind of in the background and go from deep to deep. The overall picture is medium wide, quite deep, a little darkened, very intelligible and melodic. I did not expect such a speed from 11 NEO, all very beautiful!

Morrissey – sing your life

Everything here is smooth, harmonious and academic. Headphones perfectly captures the intimate atmosphere of the song. Calm yet emotional sounding strings and vocals. Bass is very clear, punchy and deep. It creates a kind of background for the whole picture, standing out against the general background. It doesn’t even stand out, it draws the accent to itself… The middle part is very clear, it breathes straight, and Morrissey does a great job here!

Oh and ah! All in all, we are painting a pretty even, very beautiful picture, with a minimum of joints, absence of distortion and maximum melody at the same time. I like it!

I would like to note, the headphones meshed very well with my Samsung Galaxy S 7 Edge. But with better sources, the sound in the ears improves greatly. Wasn’t it the “wand” I suddenly bought, which can become the main singing device in conjunction with a smartphone, and with a top player?

The bottom line is

Bass – good punch, tight with good control, plenty of bass power, but no glitches.

The mids are quite even, very melodic and quite detailed. All the emotional component of the song is conveyed with the proper expression, rich, but at the same time without unpleasant “peaks” and valleys in that register.

HF – qualitatively and quantitatively they are, for my taste, just right. They don’t tinkle, they don’t saw, they are pleasant, precise. For a dynamic transmitter this is a very good result. Yes, there is a kind of simplification in the form of “crumbly”, but let’s not forget about a the dynamic radiator, and b the PRICE!!! If you remember subparagraph b , such questions become irrelevant.

Conclusions

Well, well done – MEZE! A product you wouldn’t be ashamed to show your grandmother. The guys did a good job and succeeded, making music lovers all over the world happy with a quality product with a great design, good sound and made such a beauty quite affordable – for only $59.00 on the manufacturer’s website. I think it’s just a gift!
