IFA 2016: Philips presented a line of multiroom speakers

At the IFA 2016 Berlin exhibition Philips showed four new acoustic multiroom solutions that allow you to broadcast sound in each room of the house or apartment. Devices work on a common Bluetooth network, requiring no routers or special software.

Pressing the Group button adds the izzy speaker to a common group that can include up to five devices. Press again to put the speaker in private listening mode. Bluetooth module enables compatibility with tablets, smartphones and other devices. In addition, izzy audio systems allow you to listen to FM radio, play music from CD and USB, and have an analog audio input. At the same time, any audio signal can be transmitted to other devices in the group.

Four new izzy models differ in form factors and features. Together with the BM5 and BM50, released a year earlier, they form a complete ecosystem.

“This is the first line of multi-room devices that fully meets plug-and-play requirements, offering a wide range of speakers and requiring no wireless routers or special applications,” says Jerome Alfonsi, head of Philips’ Audio, Video and Home Theater business.
