Iā€™ll buy a convector ā€“ save money: Dantex SDC4 convector test

Like all modern convectors, the Dantex heating elements do not incinerate oxygen and do not dry the air. But in addition to this, the SDC4 series models have a built-in air ionizer to disinfect and remove unpleasant odors.

What we have instead of a fireplace now, Barrymore? Convector, sir!

CHARACTERISTICS

Power output: 1000 watts.

Dimensions: 640x400x78 mm.

Weight: 4.8 kg.

Warranty: 2 years.

Dantex SDC4 convectors have an X-Thermo heating element with an efficiency of over 90%. Together with the smart electronic thermostat this results in a significant reduction in energy consumption for space heating. Constant temperature control by thermostat sensor excludes overheating, the device switches off at the slightest excess of the set temperature indicator. No excessive heat accounts for a significant part of the energy savings.

ā€œTHE SLIGHTEST EXCESSā€ ā€“ HOW MUCH IS THAT??

Electronic thermostat sensor detects temperature changes with an accuracy of 0,1Ā°C. Information from the sensor goes to a digital control unit, which decides whether to turn on or off the heating element. This ensures a stable room temperature set point.

TROUBLE PROTECTION

The Dantex SDC4 series has overheat and fire protection as well as a European IP-24 moisture protection rating.

WHERE TO STAY?

Anywhere! Each SDC4 series convector includes wall mounting brackets and legs with wheels for mobile use anywhere in the room.

ON THE EXAM STEP OF THE MARCH!

To verify the performance and determine the degree of safety model SD4-10 convector without an ionizer power of 1000 watts has been tested in Americaā€™s largest laboratory ROSTEST.

TEST #1. HOW MUCH TO CHARGE IN WATTS

This is a test for compliance with the declared by the manufacturer convector power of 1000 W at different voltages in the network. Low voltage ā€“ up to 185 V, normal voltage ā€“ 220 V and high voltage ā€“ 240 V.

The data obtained from the test were respectively 635/890/1050 W instantaneous power value .

RESULTS:

The convector heats at both high 240V and low 187V supply voltages. Higher voltage increases power consumption, but decreases heating time. At lower voltages correspondingly reduces the power consumption and increases the heating time.

1. Instantaneous power value deviations comply with GOST R 52161.2.30-2007.

2. The convector will perform the heating functions even if the voltage fluctuates in the mains.

TEST NO. 2. WHITE CONVECTOR IN A BLACK CORNER

This is a fire test. The convector was placed in the so-called black corner, because black surfaces absorb heat and radiation and heat up as much as possible. During the two and a half hours of operation of the convector in 39 different points in the ā€œblack cornerā€ measured the surface temperature. A total of 234 measurements were made. At its hottest point, it reaches a temperature of 44.5Ā°C. In most of the other points, the temperature did not go beyond a range of 25 to 30 Ā° C.

RESULTS:

The surface temperature of the ā€œblack cornerā€ in the given points corresponds to the safety requirements of GOST R 52161.2.30-2007.

TEST #3. HEATING EFFICIENCY

Dantex SDC4 convector test_konvektora_Dantex_3

This test measures the temperature of the appliance itself, as well as the temperature of the heated air flow coming out of it by the principle of convection. On the one hand, the higher the set temperature, the more effectively and quickly the room is heated. These temperatures, on the other hand, must not exceed certain values so as to prevent the device from burning oxygen and drying the air. This is the advantage of convectors over oil heaters and incandescent heaters.

We used a Testo 925 and 615, a Testo 905-2 thermometer, and a Fluke Ti32 thermal imager to measure temperature. Two measuring points were placed on the front of the convector and one on the back. The temperature of the air stream was measured in the area of the outlet grid.

The maximum airflow temperature was 98.9Ā°C.

The maximum temperature at the measuring points ā€“ 71,973,5/93,3 Ā° C.

Very effective temperatures for quickly heating a room, but everything is within normal limits.

RESULTS:

The temperatures of the air stream and convector surface correspond to the safety requirements of GOST R 52161.2.30-2007.

TEST NO. 4. IN THE CAMERA HERE!

This is a test of the operation of automatics, which maintains the set temperature in this case +30 Ā° C . For this purpose, the convector is placed in a relatively airtight test chamber, inside which the temperature sensors are fastened. One sensor inside the convector, one sensor on top of the casing and two sensors 1 meter away from the front surface. We were more interested in the latter ones readings, because they give us information about the temperature that will be in the room. After heating up the thermostat switches off the heating element and after cooling down it switches on again. The result of the test is how accurately the temperature range is maintained. Test time was 3 hours and the temperature was measured every 30 seconds.

The maximum temperatures measured were: 34.7/34.8Ā° C for a sensor 1 meter away from the faceplate, and 90.5Ā° C for a sensor on top of the unit.

RESULTS:

The official ā€œROSTESTATā€ report says: ā€œThe convector performs the heating functions in the test chamber, maintaining the set temperature of 30Ā°C with a deviation of about Ā± 2Ā°Cā€. These maximum temperatures were measured during the first hour and a half of the test. The remaining one and a half hours, the temperature at the external sensors stabilized at values of 30.4/30.3 Ā° C, which gives a much smaller error from the set temperature of +30 Ā° C.

TEST #5. PROTECTION AGAINST ACCIDENTS

A very important test, showing the degree of fire safety of the device in conditions of non-observance of safety rules in operation. In everyday life situations can occur, when a child or an inattentive adult drops clothes on the working heater or covers it with a blanket. The test simulates this situation. Place felt strips on the convector near the outlet grilles where the hot air comes from. Test duration: 3 hours at full convector power and initial room temperature of +23Ā°C. In order to fit into the framework of GOST, the temperature of the felt strips should not exceed the difference of 150 Ā° C from the original, ie stay less than +173 Ā° C.

Dantex SDC4 convector test /test_konvektora_Dantex_7

RESULTS:

The maximum band temperature during the test was +87.1Ā°C!

This is less than half of what is allowed by GOST!

TEST TOTALS

The Dantex SD4-10 convector has been successfully tested. It demonstrated ability to handle power surges, ability to hold a given temperature, and outstanding fire safety performance under critical conditions.
