EMUI10 opens up the possibility of implementing new features, such as audio and video calls from any smart device, from mobile and wearable gadgets to car multimedia centers. The same app can be deployed on all kinds of devices, which will significantly reduce the cost of creation, increase development efficiency, and most importantly, offer users an identical interface and level of comfort on all available devices. The EMUI development team is also open to cooperation and hopes to involve as many app and service development partners as possible in the development of the ecosystem. In conclusion Dr. Wang announced that the internal beta-testing of EMUI10 will begin on September 8 on devices HUAWEI P30 series, and the new shell will appear on the next generation of smartphones Mate series.

Every day more than 500 million people around the world use the EMUI interface

To date, different versions of the shell HUAWEI EMUI is used by more than 500 million people in 216 countries. The shell supports 77 languages. In the 7 years since the first version of EMUI 1.0 in 2012, the interface has received many technical improvements. Updating the EMUI interface has become one of HUAWEI’s priorities to improve the user experience. Statistics show that the share of updates for EMUI 8.0 and EMUI 9.0 reached 79% and 84% respectively, and according to preliminary estimates, the number of users who will switch to EMUI 10 will reach 150 million.

In recent years, HUAWEI has invested heavily in the development of its own interface, seeking to improve the overall performance of Android. GPU Turbo boosts graphics performance by 60 percent, and Link Turbo enables simultaneous access to 4G and WiFi networks, which boosts data transfer speeds by 70 percent over 4G alone. Other features include the EROFS file system, which boosts Android’s random read performance by 20%, and the Ark Compiler, which smooths third-party app execution by up to 60%.

EMUI 10 received three major improvements in interface design, improved usability in different scenarios and stability. EMUI10 also features a new tinted mode that is more comfortable for the eyes in the evening and at night. It optimizes contrast, color of text and system icons against dark backgrounds, resulting in a positive impact on the overall visual experience and ease of reading.

Distributed technology enhances the ability to work on multiple devices simultaneously

EMUI10 uses a special distributed technology, which allows you to make HD video calls from any connected devices. For example, when receiving an incoming call on a smartphone, the user can answer from a smart speaker, and a video call can be received on a TV or car multimedia center, show video from a drone in video call mode. While in the workplace, you can combine smartphone and laptop screens to exchange data by simply moving files and receive notifications on the big screen. All of this is made possible by a revolutionary resource allocation technology that requires virtualization of a device’s hardware resources. In other words, all components of the device, such as the display, camera, microphone or speaker, are made available to all pooled devices.

Security remains a top priority for HUAWEI. In parallel with the expansion of features and comfort, the company is working on a universal distributed security system, which is based on software and hardware components developed in-house HUAWEI. Data protection is based on the system architecture of the chip and the OS kernel. Only user-authorized devices can connect to other devices of this user, and all transmitted information is subject to end-to-end encryption to ensure complete security at all stages.

Single app development for deployment on different devices

The variety of smart devices is growing rapidly, and as their popularity expands and the app ecosystem grows, people increasingly use the same app on different platforms and need access to the same services and data. To meet their needs, developers are forced to adapt their apps for different platforms, master additional languages and ensure data conversion for device compatibility.

The new version of EMUI got a distributed user interface programming environment and hardware resource virtualization technology. This will allow developers to create applications that are immediately compatible with different types of devices without the need for multiple adaptations.

EMUI – a new industry driver and growth point for the application and service ecosystem

This year the number of users of smartphones HUAWEI increased significantly. In just five months, the company has sold 100 million units. In the future, it will open up even more opportunities for users to interact with different devices.

During the presentation of the new version of EMUI HUAWEI announced its intention to make more open its latest developments, which include Ark Compiler and HUAWEI DevEco Studio. The company also plans to work with third-party developers and industry partners.

HUAWEI P30 series devices will be the first to be updated to the beta version of EMUI 10

At the first stage of internal beta-testing of EMUI 10 will be deployed on the smartphone series HUAWEI P30, later the shell will be available on the devices series Mate 20. During the presentation, Dr. Wang Chenglu also announced that a working version of EMUI 10 will be installed on the next generation of Mate series smartphones.
