HUAWEI introduced a range of mobile services HUAWEI Mobile Services for Mate 30 series smartphones

HUAWEI unveiled the flagship HUAWEI Mate 30 smartphone series at a presentation in Munich. Richard Yu, head of HUAWEI Consumer Business Group, first introduced the HUAWEI Mobile Services HMS suite of pre-installed mobile applications and services, which offer users around the world new features to perform daily tasks more quickly and comfortably.

HMS applications – a new perspective on digital life

HUAWEI AppGallery, HUAWEI Browser, HUAWEI Mobile Cloud, HUAWEI Themes, HUAWEI Music, HUAWEI Video, HUAWEI Reader, HUAWEI Assistant and other applications and services, which are part of the HMS ecosystem, were launched all over the world and became an important part of HUAWEI products.

HUAWEI Browser is a secure and easy to use mobile browser, ensuring Mate 30 series smartphone users fast page loading, easy web search and full privacy. Today, the browser’s monthly active audience exceeds 200 million people.

HUAWEI Mobile Cloud, a cloud service that provides end-to-end protection of user information – from account identification, to data transfer and storage. The service allows you to store personal information, such as photos, videos and contacts, and implements multi-channel synchronization, helping users safely manage their files. The monthly number of active users of the service has reached 160 million.

HUAWEI Themes menu design themes include customizable lock screen, personalized application icons and tens of thousands of menu designs available. Monthly audience of the service has more than 70 million users.

In addition, HUAWEI Mobile Services will offer HUAWEI Mate 30 users a wide range of quality audio and video content. With the HUAWEI Music service, they will have access to a wide variety of audio content and applications, including tens of millions of music libraries, popular song lists and audiobook channels. HUAWEI Music is currently available in over 70 countries and regions around the world, serving over 150 million people per month.

HUAWEI Video, collaborating with Youku, Mango TV, Sohu.com, Jetsen Huashi Wangju, HUACE FILM&TV, Sony, Disney and other global partners, offers users a large selection of audio and video content. Popular broadcasts from Youku and Mango TV, tens of thousands of Hollywood and Chinese movies, educational, entertaining and educational programs are at your disposal. HUAWEI Video service is currently available to users in China, Spain, Italy and other countries, with a monthly audience of over 130 million viewers.

HUAWEI Reader service cooperates with dozens of partners in the Chinese market, including IReader Technology, Dianzhong Technology, Ali Literature and China Literature, which provide users with access to more than one million books, from classic literature, to bestsellers in various categories. Soon HUAWEI Reader will enter the global market and become an international digital reading platform.

Virtual assistant HUAWEI Assistant will be publicly available with the launch of HUAWEI Mate 30. With it, one swipe on the screen will be enough to access a whole set of services, global search, news feeds and other smart services. The news feed information service operates in 30 languages in 82 countries and regions around the world and offers intelligent reminders of important events and more than 150 sources of stock market information.

Global app distribution – a new form of digital services

The smartphone series Mate 30 installed proprietary application distribution platform HUAWEI AppGallery. Since its global launch in April 2018, HUAWEI AppGallery’s monthly audience has exceeded 390 million users from more than 170 countries and regions around the world, and users have made 180 billion downloads from the service in one year. As more developers join the HMS ecosystem, the number of popular foreign apps published on the HUAWEI AppGallery platform is also growing.

HUAWEI AppGallery is both a global and local platform. It offers Mate 30 users smart recommendations according to their geographic location and selected country. Recommendation service takes into account the localization of applications, popularity among the audience and offers the best option for each of them by special features HUAWEI Mate 30.

HUAWEI Quick App service will also become globally available with the launch of the Mate 30 series, opening up the Quick App standards tested in the Chinese market to developers from around the world. Users will discover the benefits of applications that do not require installation and can be accessed by a single touch of the screen.

HUAWEI Ability Gallery is a unified application distribution platform to help third-party developers promote their products. The platform will become globally available and open immediately after the launch of Mate 30 smartphones.

A new approach to ecosystem building: full openness

The HUAWEI Mobile Services HMS platform and its applications leverage HUAWEI’s chips, devices and cloud services and include a suite of core HMS Core services, tools and platforms for an integrated development and testing environment. HMS, together with third-party applications and services, form an intelligent mobile ecosystem for HUAWEI’s 570 million device users worldwide. So far, the HMS ecosystem has already attracted 1.01 million registered developers.

Developers need only integrate the relevant SDKs into their apps to access all of the ecosystem’s capabilities. To provide developers with an intelligent ecosystem with open capabilities and quick access to HMS, HUAWEI has officially opened 14 HMS services, including 9 core services and 5 services for growth. So far, 45,000 applications from developers around the world have been integrated with HMS Core, with an increase of 65% over the past year.

The HUAWEI Map Kit toolkit will become available to overseas developers after October 2019, giving them the ability to use maps in creating a variety of innovative apps. HUAWEI Health app for mobile devices, watches and bracelets HUAWEI will also have access to HUAWEI Map Kit.

To attract more developers and applications to HMS, HUAWEI increases investment in community development from ¥1 billion to ¥1 billion, and comprehensively updates the “Shining Star” program. 80% of the investment will be used to stimulate and accelerate global innovation in application development. The remaining funds will go to the development, growth and marketing needs.

The “Shining Star” program will continue to support global developers who create quality and popular services and content for users of HUAWEI Mate 30 smartphones and other models. With the launch of the new flagship series HUAWEI Mate 30, HUAWEI continues to build a holistic intelligent ecosystem, focused on improving the comfort of daily life of users around the world.
