How to use the dishwasher correctly. Ask Vestel: CDF 8646 WS

New York, October 21, 2013. Along with the stove and refrigerator, the dishwasher is becoming an attribute of any modern kitchen. It’s growing in popularity every year. Nevertheless, even seasoned owners sometimes don’t know how to properly use a dishwasher. Vestel, Europe’s leading home appliance manufacturer, has put together a few simple guidelines for experienced and novice homeowners alike.

Recessed dishwashers

    1. Clean up after yourself

Before you put the dishes in the machine, you need to rinse them and remove any food residue from them. If you intend to wash oily pans or pans with burnt food in the dishwasher, rinse them under a stream of warm water before loading them into the basket. So you extend the life of your appliances, which are designed to clean, not scavenge.

    2. Temperature control

Different cookware has different temperatures. Glass dishes and common plates should not be put in the dishwasher at the same time. So, for example, medium soiling dishes are washed at a standard wash temperature 50ÂșC to 65ÂșC , while big pots and pans require a maximum temperature of 75ÂșC. In this case, fragile dishes will be hopelessly spoiled. So make sure you choose the cleanest and softest wash programme at the lowest temperature possible – the optimum temperature is 30-40 °C.

And some models have an antibacterial program – not only do they remove food impurities, but bacteria as well. So, the Vestel CDF 8646 WS dishwasher will help you cope with germs. Heating to a temperature of 70°C in 10 minutes to kill pathogens without the use of any special chemicals. And all this with water and energy saving. The Vestel CDF 8646 WS can wash 10 place settings using only 13 litres of water. Half-load and express modes are also useful for the careful housewife. Dishes will be clean in half an hour after the program is started.

    3. Loading

As many of you know, there are dishwashing compartments. Plates, pots and pans can be loaded into the large lower basket. In the small one, which is also located below, is placed cutlery. Spoons, forks and knives should be loaded with the handle downwards, so that the water flows off them freely. The upper compartment is for glasses, mugs, plates and salad bowls. An important rule of thumb is to turn them upside down so as not to trap liquid in them.

    4. No hassle

When loading the dishes, special attention should be paid to the positioning of the water taps. Don’t let anything get in the way. The ideal distance between the spray arms and the dishes is considered to be 12 cm. In this case, the water jet is not reflected off the objects, but evenly distributed over their area.

    5. Pile them all up

In order not to get dirty dishes after washing, it is not recommended to put some pieces of equipment on top of the other ones. Allow plenty of space between items to let the water run off. It can be adjusted by means of special holders. For example, each plate must sit in its own compartment and the tureen should not overlap the casserole dish.

    6. Cleaning products

Only specific detergents may be used in the dishwasher. Three components are required for full performance: a special detergent powder or tablets , rinse aid and salt. Modern dishwashers use approximately 30 g regenerating salt and 25 g of detergent per wash. An average tablet detergent consumption is one tablet for every 20 liters of water. Pouring substances which are not suitable for the dishwasher into the dispenser is a straightforward way to the repair shop.

    7. Cleanliness is the key to health

Always keep the dishwasher clean. For trouble-free operation, it must be cleaned from time to time from the scale that has formed. For this purpose, housewives use either special bleach or folk remedies, such as table vinegar. Also remember one more important rule – leave the dishwasher door open for a while after you finish the program. So the mechanisms can “air out”.
