“HONOR Vision is more than the TV we’re used to. With innovative technology from HONOR Sharp Tech, these devices open up the future of television. Very soon such smart screens will play an important role in the life of every family. It will not only be a home entertainment center, but also an information sharing center, a control and management center, and a collaboration center for all smart devices,” said HONOR President George Zhao.

The world’s first smart screen with HUAWEI HarmonyOS OS

During the HDC 2019 conference, HUAWEI unveiled HarmonyOS, a new operating system with a distributed architecture based on a microkernel, designed to offer users a unified system of interaction with all types of digital devices in all life situations. HarmonyOS will be optimized and gradually implemented on various types of HUAWEI devices, including smart watches, smart screens, car multimedia systems and smart speakers. To accelerate the system’s distribution, HarmonyOS will be globally available as an open-source platform.

In an age when users need comfortable access to full smart features and services in a variety of everyday scenarios, it’s essential to have an operating system with high cross-platform compatibility. According to Richard Yu, CEO of HUAWEI Consumer Business Group, the new OS is able to work effectively in the widest range of scenarios, on any mobile devices and platforms, providing high comfort, fast performance and reliable data protection. Among the smart devices presented at HDC, the first product to feature the new OS was the HONOR Vision smart screen.

The cohesion of the three processors: the intelligent Honghu 818, the neural module for the camera and AI, and the flagship Wi-Fi module HONOR Vision combine a number of innovative technologies to ensure a high level of comfort in everyday tasks.

Honghu 818 Intelligent Processor: the latest screen processor with a special image processing mechanism. Honghu 818 distinguishes itself with seven advanced image enhancement algorithms: Motion Estimate and Motion Compensation MEMC , High Dynamic Range Imaging, Super-Resolution, Noise Reduction, Dynamic Contrast Improvement, Auto Color Management and Local Dimming. An octa-core processor is capable of handling resource-intensive tasks for large screens and multitasking. MEMC algorithm produces high-resolution images, improves audio quality and recognizes voice commands over long distances. This chip has high bandwidth utilization, more than 50% higher than average.

Neural Processor for AI Camera: Another technology from Sharp Tech’s series of innovations, the smart slide-out camera features a HiSilicon Hi3516DV300 neural chip that takes on intelligent functions such as face recognition, body position and user posture tracking. The design guarantees comfort and extra privacy protection. Camera tilts down 10° when wall mounted and automatically hides behind the screen when not in use.

Flagship Wi-Fi processor: HONOR Vision is equipped with the flagship HiSilicon Hi1103 Wi-Fi chipset. It’s the world’s first 160 MHz chip, delivering download speeds of up to 1.7 Gbps, 1.7 times faster than the current average. It guarantees smoother, more seamless video, especially in 4K HD. The chipset also supports optimized 2.4/5 GHz frequency bands. While the 2.4 GHz band provides a stronger Wi-Fi signal and wider coverage, the 5 GHz band delivers faster data speeds and minimizes signal latency. The ability to combine the two bands allows for optimized connectivity.

Both HONOR Vision models introduced feature a 55-inch 4K HDR display. Frameless Full-View design covers 94% of the front of the device. The screen features a 6.9 mm all-metal frame with a diamond patterned back, smart backlighting and T-certified Eye Comfort mode&Uuml V Rheinland.

Transforming the future of television

HONOR Vision screens are designed to take an important role in the smart home ecosystem. Going beyond the usual entertainment center functions, they will serve as information exchange centers, control and management centers, and interaction centers for various smart devices.

Home entertainment center. The HONOR Vision smart screen provides an immersive experience when watching videos and listening to music. With an extensive proprietary content library and a suite of third-party platforms, it will become a single point of access to TV shows, shows, music, movies, animated movies and other types of content. Information Sharing Center. The HONOR Vision smart screen has a Family Note feature that allows users to transfer 600MB of images between the display and their smartphone in just 20 seconds – 100 times faster than Bluetooth transfers.

Control and management center. HUAWEI and HONOR continue to work on the development of the HiLink open smart home ecosystem. The platform, like the technology, will become available to other smart home solution providers, allowing users to connect and network the products and devices they like.

Smart Device Interaction Center. HONOR Vision smart screen got HONOR Magic-link function, which allows you to use your smartphone and tablet to search for programs, adjust the screen and much more. The feature also allows text to be displayed on the smart display when typing on a smartphone or tablet. By activating this feature, users can connect and stream their files to the big screen without having to download apps, turn on NFC with a single tap and enjoy 1080P HDR content. With ultra-low latency of about 100ms, connecting devices to HONOR Vision takes only two seconds. In addition, users can easily switch between Miracast and DLNA modes to watch videos, pictures and play games.

Price and affordability

The HONOR Vision series includes a standard version with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage and a PRO version with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. The devices are priced at ¥3,799 and ¥4,799 respectively.
