Hi-Fi in the Urals way. What was shown and talked about at the Hi-Fi & High End Show Ural 2019

Hi-Fi & High End Show 2019 URAL took place! For the first time in 25 years the city of Ekaterinburg was selected as the exit venue for the exhibition and was visited by connoisseurs of high quality sound and image from many cities of the Ural region. What visitors remembered of the two-day event? Despite the fact that the New York Hi-Fi & High End Show was held less than six months ago, the participants managed to bring to the Urals a whole series of premiere products which first appeared before the American audience at the Urals exhibition.

Thus, for the first time in America completely new acoustic system Olympica nova III from the Italian company Sonus Faber was presented. You could study the novelty in the room of Pult store. The distributor of Sonus Faber in America is Armada Sound. Sonus Faber Olympica nova is the second line of exemplary speakers of the brand, first released in 2013, which absorbed the most advanced technology and, of course, the traditions of Sonus Faber. The lack of flat and parallel walls improves cabinet performance and maintains the typical asymmetrical shape of the first-generation Olympica lute. This shape allows you to flexibly position the speakers to adjust the bass in any room. The speaker cabinets are made of eight-layer plywood, with solid walnut or wenge in the finish. 28mm tweeters feature soft domes with DAD Damped Apex Dome technology and a neodymium magnet system. The bass drivers use foam-paper composite diaphragms and the midrange drivers are taken from the Homage Tradition lineup. The reflector channel now not only has a functional element for airflow control, but it is fully integrated into the cabinet, which further increases the speed and clarity of the sound.

Another premiere is the new Sonus Faber Minima Amator II, which is a continuation of the classic Sonus Faber Heritage. Minima Amator II is a two-way vented loudspeaker system that combines a vintage design with a completely new electroacoustic design that features the latest Sonus Faber patents and technology. Sonus Faber products also presented a floor three-way acoustic system Sonus Faber Sonetto VIII.

Sources of sound in the exposition: vinyl player Thorens TD 148A, which was also presented in America for the first time. This top-of-the-line, fully automatic model has a two-piece chassis with floating suspension, which reliably protects the platter and tonearm from external vibrations. Chassis exterior frame is MDF and sub-chassis is aluminum. The special design of the suspension eliminates its rocking due to which the player work is very stable. Other sources include Thorens TD 309 vinyl players, McIntosh MCD600, McIntosh MT2, McIntosh MTI100. McIntosh MA252 and McIntosh MA9000 amplifiers were responsible for amplification, Thorens MM 008 phono stage was used for the sound amplification. The systems were bundled with Synergistic Research cables.

For those who don’t want to own a huge hi-fi or high end loudspeaker, who are confused by the price range of such equipment, the CI Group distributor offered alternatives. The centerpiece of the display was something that is easy to turn on, switch and, most importantly, sing – that is, devices from the Bluesound ecosystem running BluOS – a modern operating system and music management software that allows, using the home network, to play and stream music files up to 24bit/192kHz without loss to every room, including the EISA 2019 winner – a compact integrated amplifier with streamer functionality NAD M10. Amplifier supports MQA, AirPlay 2 and 15 streaming services. Sound reproduction in the set was provided by Mission speakers by the way, ZX series was first presented to the public exactly at the Hi-Fi & High End Show URAL , as well as a small-sized PSB speaker system.

Another trend in the CI Group room is in-wall solutions: classic from the original Speakercraft, and modern from a young British company Lithe Audio – just the case when you need two holes in the ceiling, and the rest is done by the speakers themselves.

Yekaterinburg studio “Home audio technology” together with the distribution company New Ambience presented a stereo system which was based on the German company TIDAL: Preamplifier Presencio, power amplifier The Impuls and speaker systems Contriva G2 Dia Cera.
