CONSTRUCTION FEATURES: The subwoofer is designed in the familiar HEYBROOK style and features a powerful front panel with rounded corners, twin reflex port system on the front. The family trait is the characteristic cut of the side edges at the bottom of the front panel. The unit stands on small rubber feet.

The internal stuffing of the subwoofer is a hybrid amplifier BASH with the power of 150 W, which is fed to the forward looking woofer with a paper diaphragm of 254 mm in diameter.

Control and switching panel is in the back. Everything you need to set up and connect a subwoofer is there. There are three toggle switches on the volume and cutoff frequency control 50-150 Hz , one of which changes the phase 0/180 deg . , another one disables built-in crossover, last toggle switch switches power modes on/auto . Subwoofer also comes with full range of high and line level inputs and outputs.

AUDIO QUALITY: Sensitivity range is small, but the decay to the left and right is gradual. Variation of cutoff frequency has great effect on sound pressure produced by the subwoofer. At minimum cutoff frequency the decay goes from 42 Hz and the -10dB bottom end is 25 Hz. Maximum performance is in the mid-bass, but as you increase the LPF bandwidth the sensitivity goes higher, to the boundary between the mid-bass and the top-bass. In Direct mode with crossover turned off subwoofer confidently voices the upper bass up to 155 Hz at -6 dB level. So in DT, the subwoofer can be set up to work with small half-speakers with no problem.

In cinema, the HBS 200 offered deep bass, but not much detail in the very bottom register. Nevertheless, low-frequency special effects are accompanied by a sensitive tactile sensation. The subwoofer doesn’t let the audience relax for a second in dramatic episodes, building up the tension of events with high quality. Some moments are conveyed in a slightly exaggerated way, but many will even like it – the more speakers, the greater the experience.

In music HBS 200 gives you a lively and aggressive bass. The rhythm section is played with great enthusiasm. For entertainment and mainstream music this sound character is well suited. For classical and jazz the bass timbre obviously lacks finesse, so lovers of these genres should look for other woofers.

PRICE: $645.
