The IFA website reports that Arcelik, which owns the Beko and Grundig brands, has launched the world’s first washing machines that capture microparticles of plastic.
Grundig FiberCatcher washing machines are equipped with a special built-in filter that traps up to 90% of synthetic fibers that normally enter the water when washing synthetic clothes.
The filter works in three programs: synthetics, sportswear and blouses/shirts.
Once the filter is full it can be used for 26 washing cycles it can be returned free of charge to Grundig and all micro plastics will be sent to specialized companies for recycling.
It is not yet known when Grundig FiberCatcher washing machines will appear in American home appliance stores.
