Greeting by the clothes – hood reviews

The first impression of a hood is created by its appearance for many of us, bright design creativity becomes the main incentive to buy. Design is primary for people who want to get away from the familiarity and ordinariness, they are able to be surprised and appreciate the feeling, getting pleasure from it.

Extractor

They want to create something unique in their kitchen that breaks away from the cliché. And this is often achieved solely by the choice of hood: because the hood is the only major kitchen appliance capable of having a true personality that sets it apart from hundreds of counterparts. And that individuality literally changes the entire mood of the kitchen in one stroke.

Company designers are always looking for new solutions that can wow us, with little means to find. The first of these is playing with form. Here’s where non-trivial solutions and associations come in. For example, the Falmec Prestige range hood looks like a wall lamp, the Elica Bubble looks like a ball or bubble, the Faber Drop looks like an upside down glass… Familiar geometric shapes – circle, cube, tube, panel – can appear in the most unexpected ways. The effect of the device gives the successful choice of material: carefully polished steel, shiny glass, internal lighting, this choice can be very unusual, for example, for Elica Star used hundreds of glass faceted pendants, and Cata Cor-S is made of the famous Corian.

Recently, models with juicy colors e.g. red Baumatic TG3 Tango 90RD, orange Elikor Onyx 60, green Elica Mini OM F/55, blue Franke FDBR 902 AZ and prints have started to appear. Some of our appliances come in a range of colors and decors, so that we can find the one that suits our kitchen. In the Elikor collection it is Onyx Art with eight options, including three types of print – zebra, bamboo and sakura 9 shades of backgrounds for a light floral pattern in Falmec Aurora, 4 colors in Best K 9995, and in the Krona Mishel 3P model the central insert can be replaced with a picture, there are 10 types.

Innovative Connoisseur

An innovative enthusiast – a curious consumer who responds with interest to technical innovations and is prepared to use them in his or her daily life. Often these innovations look like toys, but they can really make our life easier, increase our comfort level and bring a special joy – from the way it works. The most modernly designed hoods are often self-sufficient and their new owner will appreciate the fact that the cooker hood analyses precisely the intensity of the cooking process, reacts to an approaching person by increasing the intensity of lighting, and airs the kitchen in his/her absence.

Automatics reminds about the necessity to care of the filters, timely turns off or on the motor and enables to choose the speed of its work flexibly with the help of modern touch-sensitive sliders or multilevel up to 8 switches.

One of the most impressive innovations in recent years was the perimeter suction, which not only improved the efficiency of the motors, but also triggered a string of new technical innovations. An example of this is the Nodor Konvex hood with asymmetric air intake system to clean the air flow more effectively around the edges, thanks to the double effect of accelerating air movement in a narrower area. And the Gutmann Mesa cooker hood literally works on the perimeter: air suction occurs through slits on the edges of the hob, while the motor and all the guts are hidden in the depths of the table.

Many of us think of our kitchens as the center of the home, where they spend a lot of time filling the hood with media function allows you to spend it more usefully, watching the news or watching your favorite shows and movies. More and more cooker hoods are equipped with full-fledged TV screens, for example, the model Falmec Vision has a Schaub Lorenz TV with a diagonal of 19 inches, and Kronasteel Avrora TV 860 has 15 inches. The Siemens LC 956BC60R Multimedia hood can be used to connect to a TV, watch a DVD and listen to audio materials. The Faber Imago Plus, a multimedia cooker hood with a 19-inch LCD TV, features a built-in recipe menu, USB port, video call, home monitoring system and Internet access.

It should be noted that connoisseurs of innovation prefer unusual design, so the “smart” cooker hood is always the highest technical aesthetics in the latest forms and materials, as well as mobility. One manifestation of mobility has been the ability of appliances to hide “at rest” and come out into the light of God for work. Interesting new additions: Faber F-Light – an island hood that looks like a luminaire. When you switch it on the motor unit starts to move gently and silently from top to bottom, stopping at a desired distance above the hob, thanks to an electric servo and four metal cables. Panels Elica Clip, Falmec Butterfly and Miele DA 5000 D when you turn on the lift like a leaf. Table-top appliances De Dietrich DHD 7000 90 IX, Elica Adagio float above the table top when switched on and gently drop down when switched off.

Comfort comes first

The extractor

Most of the buyers are people who expect convenience efficiency from a hood and want it to work as quietly as possible: a low noise level for them is the most important indicator of comfort. This demanding nature has brought about a new round of “arms race” and the achievement of even quieter appliances remains a priority for every manufacturer. The noise level during operation is constantly going down, from model to model, e.g. – 35dB with Faber Glory and Cata Delta 36dB – Shindo Kalipso, 38dB – Best K 509 40dB – Siemens LC 956BC60R, 41dB – Teka DHX 110T ISLA, 46dB – Krona Amanda.

A cooker hood is an appliance that needs periodic maintenance, and the less time it takes, the better for true comfort connoisseurs. Minimize the effort of cleaning help design features – the absence of hard to clean places, the use of flat, smooth surfaces without edges, as well as special coatings that prevent the appearance of fingerprints, streaks from steam, traces of water droplets. Such coverings are used: Cata, Smeg, Falmec, Jetair, Teka, Miele, Electrolux, Elikor.

Undoubtedly, a remote control that allows you to turn the motor on and off without moving from your chair contributes to a more pleasant operation. R/Cs are now being used more and more often, such as the Zigmund & Shtain K 246.91 S, Falmec Lumen, Kronasteel Naomi Mirror, Franke FPL 607 I XS.

People who love tradition

There are always people who prefer the warmth of country style and classic cooking without being carried away by fashion. It’s important for them that the modern cooker hood looks like its predecessors from the pre-electric era. This continuity creates timeless ensembles that are always on-trend. Effectively styled, with only a few shapes and a limited choice of colors.

The shape of the traditional hood is reminiscent of a fireplace, and therefore the most popular choice is the pyramid. Often the appliance is decorated with an edging in imitation of wood, so that the model looked like a harmonious part of the set. The pyramidal shape is so popular that it is constantly being supplemented with slight variations – a more sloping Kuppersberg Daphn or rounded front wall Elica Corallo , squatting Falmec Melissa Tulip Parete or elongated Elikor Fireplace Fringe , convex Falmec Iris Tulip or concave side edges Jet air CH Dallas . Colors are ideal for combinations with wood – white, milk, vanilla and sand. Pyramidal hoods are also made of steel Ardo CN 60 , metal painted black Bosch DWW 061461 , brown Gefest BO-11 K47 , copper Nardi NCA 4601 R .

A less common, but no less favorite shape is the cone. Hood body is made only of metal, the color solutions are similar: it is copper, for example, Elikor Epsilon, steel – Kronasteel Diana, black – Ardo VA 61 black, brown – Gefest Vo-1503 K17, white – MBS Gasteria.

Traditional hoods are chosen by those who appreciate home comfort and that’s why they use a nice décor – gold plating, carving, painting.

Universal

Avoiding extremes, the user expects from his/her hood a little bit of everything, that it reflects the latest ideas in its capabilities, but does not frighten with unnecessary abundance, that its pleasant design is pleasing to the eye, without compromising on practicality.

There are a lot of people with universal needs, and there are a lot of hoods designed for them. In recent years, the palm of primacy belongs to models with perimeter suction. Universal hoods are equipped with a simple set of functions: an interesting, but uncomplicated control unit, often with lighting, timer switching off, and sometimes indicating of filter pollution: Gorenje DVG 6545 AX, Jet air Domino 80 IX, Shindo Vesta.

The design is modern, rather stereotypical, but the best solutions that are really popular with most people are used and played around: the T-shaped body Bosch DWB 069751 , slanted shape Delonghi KT-T 60 XB , flat Cata PV VL3 or curved Kronasteel Sharlotta glass wing, a combination of shiny and frosted surfaces, mirror glass.

When designing anything from a pot to a car, the main message is always the potential customer: who they are, how old they are, what their taste and wallet is. And cooker hoods are no exception. When creating them engineers and designers always have more or less clear picture: who and how will use their new device.
