Gemalto and Microsoft have teamed up to bring this enhancement to life, thereby ensuring secure and ubiquitous connectivity for end users. Gemalto’s On-Demand Connectivity subscription management solution is combined with native eSIM support on Windows 10, allowing users to seamlessly manage the connectivity settings of their devices.

The eSIM technology is designed for remote provisioning of subscriptions by mobile network operators and works worldwide with any operator, device maker or provider implementing the specification. This technology will form the basis for devices of all shapes and sizes to connect to operators’ networks. The first wave of devices with the technology is expected to be available to users just before the upcoming holidays.

“eSIM technology is an important investment for Microsoft because we want to create even more possibilities for mobile computing environments,

– Says Roanne Sones, general manager of Microsoft’s Windows and Devices Strategy and Ecosystems. –

As a key component to implementing the Always Connected Windows concept, we worked closely with Gemalto to develop a solution that meets the new GSMA regulations.”.

“Gemalto has created a whole range of subscription management software as well as a wide range of services to manage the eSIM lifecycle in mobile devices,

– said Rodrigo Serna, senior vice president of Gemalto’s Mobile Services and Internet of Things division in the Americas. –

We will continue our close collaboration with Microsoft and the GSMA to improve these advanced technologies and at the same time protect the security of end users who rely on their mobile devices to make their daily lives easier.”.
