Fujitsu N7100 network scanner processes images up to 10x faster

New York, February 17, 2015. -Fujitsu launches scanner that sets new quality standards in the network scanner segment. With a more advanced CPU and GPU, the Fujitsu N7100 speeds up image processing within a workflow by about ten times compared to its N1800 predecessor, allowing near real-time viewing of scan results and significantly reducing time loss. New active paper feed mechanism prevents jams and ensures reliable sheet separation, avoiding loading multiple sheets at once.

Computers and peripherals

New Fujitsu network scanner based on a proven architecture with an easy-to-use touch screen

  • Processes images up to 10 times faster, getting rid of queues and viewing results in near real time

  • New active paper separation system for flawless document feeding

  • PaperStream software to enhance image quality, USB ports and an SDK to fully integrate the device into business processes

  • Presented at CeBIT Fujitsu Square, Hall 7 Stand A28

The scanner also comes with PaperStream software and USB ports for keyboard or IC card reader, helping to increase automation and overall productivity. This stand-alone network scanner can operate without being connected to a computer, and all N7100 scanners installed in the company can be controlled from a central administration panel. The deviceā€™s large touch screen provides easy access to job profiles based on user roles, simplifying integration into business processes. The new Fujitsu N7100 will be on display at CeBIT 2015 Fujitsu Plaza, Hall 7, Stand A28 from March 16 to 20.

50% shorter digitizing time

The Fujitsu N7100 is equipped with an advanced CPU and a GPU which speed up image processing by up to 10 times compared to the previous N1800. This allows near real-time viewing of scanning results and avoids queuing tasks. The new device scans tray-fed paper originals at 25 pages per minute A4, color, double-sided, 300 dpi 50 images per minute and is able to convert raw images into high quality information almost instantly without the delays that are common to many scanners on the market today. All of which reduces the overall digitization time by approximately 50 percent, making the Fujitsu N7100 a leader in its class.

Active paper feed system

The N7100 features an all-new Active Original Feeding System with ā€œBrake Rollerā€ technology. Like more expensive enterprise-class models, this system is optimized for workgroup requirements and provides reliable sheet separation in mixed reams of paper originals ranging from 40 to 209 g/m2 and even plastic cards.

Maintaining business process efficiency

Of all the Fujitsu fi-series scanners, this network-enabled scanner offers the most impressive support for PaperStream software, which is designed for fast, high-quality image processing. In addition, the scanner has two USB ports for connecting peripheral devices e.g. keyboard , and with the help of the SDK development kit it is possible to implement support for devices such as IC card readers.

ā€œThe demand for network scanners is growing,ā€ said Mike Nelson, vice president of PFU Imaging Solutions Europe Ltd. a subsidiary of Fujitsu . ā€“ The Fujitsu N7100 builds upon and expands on the broadly acclaimed N1800, offering companies and government organizations of all sizes new and very useful capabilities.

ā€œWithout even having to connect the scanner to a computer, users can scan, save and send the document wherever they want with the touch of a button. And due to the increased processing speed, unwanted time losses are reduced,ā€ explained Klaus Schulz, Marketing Manager at PFU Imaging Solutions Europe Ltd. EMEA.

Security first

As the N7100 is designed for multiple users to share in a workgroup, it offers features such as password protection, encryption, automatic deletion of temporary document data and secure initialization that leaves no trace of data from past users.

New network scanner comes with Network Scanner Admin and Scanner Central Admin Console software for centralized management. It allows administrators to access individual network scanners or connect to a central administration server to simultaneously configure and manage multiple N7100 scanners on a shared network.

The scanner will be available from Fujitsuā€™s partners from April 2015. The recommended retail price is 1,650 euros/1249 pounds sterling/2149 USD excluding VAT .
