Fujifilm GFX100S: Best imaging technology in a small, large-format mirrorless camera.

Pushing the limits of what is possible in large-format photography, the Fujifilm GFX100S incorporates the innovative approach of the previous GFX100 and a philosophy of portability and compactness that makes the GFX100S a creative camera that enables large-format shots in previously unattainable conditions. Not willing to sacrifice performance for portability, Fujifilm has created one of the world’s most compact and high-performance large-format cameras. The most powerful camera to date in the GFX system, which combines the best of Fujifilm’s imaging technology.

Large-format images at 102 MP

The GFX100S uses a 102 megapixel large-format back-illuminated CMOS sensor that measures 44×33 mm. Compared to a smaller, lower-resolution sensor, the GFX100S sensor is around 1.7x bigger, capturing significantly more light. Its full advantage is revealed when you need to shoot images with incredibly shallow depth of field, fantastic dynamic range, true-to-life color reproduction and astonishingly high ISO performance.

But resolution is nothing without control, and the camera’s quad-core X-Processor 4 is the perfect mechanism to reliably produce stunning, high-quality images time and time again. And it does it all incredibly fast, applying Fujifilm’s years of experience in color technology to every image.

To eliminate unintentional vibrations, ultra-high-resolution images need all the help they can get, because even the slightest movement will be reflected in the smallest detail. That’s why the shutter used in the camera is additionally equipped with a special shock absorber. Not only does it provide faster response, but it also absorbs the slightest vibration to keep image quality at the highest level. In addition, the shutter of the GFX100S is 15% lighter than the original GFX100, but its smaller size has no effect on its performance or durability, with a guaranteed life of 150,000 operations.

Creating images requires flexibility. That’s why the GFX100S offers a wide variety of formats and quality options. This includes both uncompressed and lossless RAW and JPEG formats in a variety of sizes, aspect ratios and compression levels. In-camera RAW processing enables saving images at 8-bit or 10-bit color depth as 8-bit or 16-bit TIFF files. It is also possible to record a 36x24mm centering image with a 35mm lens with a compatible lens mount adapter.

Also available in the GFX100S are 19 exclusive FUJIFILM film simulation modes, including the new Nostalgic Neg mode, which recalls the New Color Photography style that originated in 1970s America. Yet another reason to experiment with photography and color. Unique Nostalgic Neg color toning adds an amber tone to the lights, making them look softer, and makes shadows richer while preserving detail, giving images a lyrical mood.

High-performance autofocus and effective stabilization system

The camera uses a hybrid autofocus system combining contrast and phase autofocus. Unlike most large and medium format cameras, phase detection pixels cover nearly 100% of the GFX100S sensor, taking its autofocus to a new level. In other words, the GFX100S is able to focus in as little as 0.16 seconds, even at a light level of -5.5EV(with GF80mmF1 lens.7 R WR , ensuring its versatility, accuracy and incredible speed.

The GFX100S features an innovative Integrated Matrix Image Stabilization System IBIS that greatly enhances photographers’ abilities, allowing them to shoot handheld with confidence. The IBIS engine in the GFX100S is 20% smaller and 10% lighter than the stabilisation system used in the FUJIFILM GFX100. Yet despite its reduced size, it still offers stabilization performance of up to 6 stops on five axes according to CIPA , 0.5 stops better than the GFX100.

4K30P large format video recording

Thanks to its large-format image sensor, the GFX100S records crystal clear 4K/30p video with an astonishingly shallow depth of field, amazing ISO performance, rich tonal gradation and unparalleled image quality. Can shoot video at 400 Mbps. various quality, from 10 bit 4:2:0 F-log stored on SD card to 12 bit 4:2:2 ProRes RAW via HDMI port.

Not only is the camera capable of shooting 4K video at a 16:9 aspect ratio, but also supports a 17:9 ratio – often used in movies. Also available are the most commonly used compression codecs such as H.264 and H.265. In addition, professional standards such as REC can be selected for complete creative freedom.2100 with Hybrid Gamma Log HLG or F-Log. Compared to using publicly available compression codecs such as H.264, recording video in F-Log or HLG format gives operators more post-processing freedom, as footage is color-corrected, and luminance, color saturation or any other image parameter is corrected.

For maximum flexibility in image correction and color enhancement, the GFX100S can record 4K/30P 12-bit RAW video directly through the HDMI port to an external Atomos Ninja V recorder for later download in ProRes RAW format. With this, great opportunities for further post-processing are available. RAW and F-Log or Hybrid Log Gamma HLG with Film Simulation Mode can also be simultaneously output.

Intuitive operation and ease of use

FUJIFILM GFX system cameras have set new standards for portability and performance when it comes to large-format cameras, and the GFX100S continues this modern legacy. Its 102-megapixel high-resolution sensor is housed in a body that weighs only 900 g and has a surprisingly compact size of 150x104x87 mm

The GFX100S is easy to operate for both new users and those already familiar with the GFX system. For example, the PASM dial, with a choice of six customizable modes, provides quick and direct access to frequently used settings, while a switch conveniently located next to the mode dial allows users to quickly switch between photo and video modes. The ergonomic, redesigned focus point selector lever also allows you to focus quickly and clearly.

Instantly check the status of key camera functions with the LCD monitor on top of the GFX100S. Black and white 1.8 inch monitor is crystal clear and displays all important information including shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity and remaining frames. The display is also fully programmable, so you can choose what information you want to transmit at any time.

Some of the best images are obtained when the camera is positioned at an unusual angle. The GFX100S 3.2-inch 2.36 million-dot rear LCD panel encourages you to explore different vantage points with its 100% coverage and three tilt directions: 90° up, 45° down and 60° to the right. Use this touch-operated flexibility to take your compositions to the next level.

The GFX100S features a 3.69 million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder, providing 100% coverage. The viewfinder uses specially developed lenses to deliver a high level of clarity for real-time viewing. Viewfinder equipped with diopter adjustment dial for easy viewing.

The camera body is made of magnesium alloy and is designed to meet the demands of everyday use. It’s also 1mm thicker around the lens mount to provide extra rigidity and support, which is important when using large fixed focal length lenses and zoom lenses with the G Mount. Meanwhile, the body has about 60 seals in various places, allowing the GFX100S to easily handle the toughest weather conditions. The camera can operate in temperatures down to -10 °C and is resistant to dust and moisture.
