New York, America, September 16, 2015. The day before Electrolux announced the names of the six finalists in its popular Electrolux Design Lab competition. This year’s theme was “Happy and Healthy Kids,” Electrolux is looking for new solutions and bold ideas to improve the lives of families with children. The six students who made it to the finals represent universities in Mexico, South Korea, Hungary, Lithuania, Great Britain, and America. The winner of Design Lab 2015 will be selected by the jury members after the participants present all six concepts at a gala event in Helsinki, Finland, on October 15, 2015.
In total, more than 1,500 entries have been submitted to Design Lab 2015 since registration opened in April 2015. Today, five months later, only 6 finalists have made it to the finals, as a result of public voting and assessment by Electrolux experts:
- Voris – a robot,
that teaches children to be tidy

- Future Classroom
An interactive learning kitchen that can stimulate the regeneration of fruits and vegetables

- Air Shield
a baby carriage that creates its own microclimate with clean air for your baby

- Bloom –
A solution that combines digital and hands-on learning to teach useful habits for working in the kitchen in a playful way

The final Design Lab is one of the highlights of the year. It’s great to see so much innovation and talent in one place. The students who made it to the finals did an incredible job. Now they only have to impress the jury one more time to be considered for a paid internship at Electrolux.

The winner of Design Lab 2015 will be selected by a jury chaired by Lars Erikson at a gala event for the final in Helsinki on October 15, 2015.
About the Electrolux Design Lab 2015 competition
Main objective
Electrolux Design Lab competition – to motivate and support young designers around the world,
giving them the opportunity to showcase their vision of the home appliances of the future. Supporting Electrolux’s ambition to be at the forefront of home appliance evolution, the contest helps find new inspiring ideas and attract the most promising young talent. The grand prize of the contest is a six-month paid internship at Electrolux International Design Center. It should be noted that subsequently, half of the winners of last years contest went on to work for Electrolux. In addition, the winner will receive 10,000 euros, the runner-up 6,000 euros, and the third place winner 4,000 euros. The concept with the most online votes will receive a €2,000 audience award.
