Extractor power

Three built-in microprocessors monitor unit status up to 8,000 times per second. Microprocessors are located in the dynamic load sensor inside the high-torque nozzle, as well as the Dyson V11 digitally controlled motor and battery sensors. These improvements have resulted in the suction power being automatically adjusted depending on the type of coverage, and the user can see on the screen how much time is left.

High torque nozzle with Dynamic Load Sensing DLS

DLS system, unique to high-torque cleaning nozzle, intelligently detects brush resistance up to 360 times per second and automatically communicates with motor and battery microprocessor to change suction power based on the surface being cleaned. This allows for deep cleaning of carpets and longer run times on hard floors.

The high-torque nozzle is the most powerful in the Dyson range. The Dyson battery has seven high-capacity nickel-cobalt-aluminum cathodes which deliver powerful suction power. It also has an anti-static carbon fiber brush that penetrates deep into your carpet to pick up stubborn dirt, and anti-static carbon fiber bristles that trap dust from hard floors and crevices. Integrated digitally controlled motor spins the brush at up to 60 revolutions per second.

Dyson engineers also developed a way to seal the high-torque cleaning nozzle with an elastic polyurethane seal for a tight fit to the floor.

LCD display with real-time information

Built-in LCD display shows current performance, selected power mode and remaining time in each mode, allowing the user to better control the cleaning process.

The display also reminds the user when to clean the filters for better performance and informs about any problems and how to fix them. Thanks to the sensitive magnets built into the filter unit, the display can tell the user if the filter is misplaced.

Battery

Up to 60 minutes of continuous use without loss of suction power with Dyson’s most productive battery2

Dyson’s most powerful battery has 7 high-capacity cells with nickel-cobalt-aluminum cathodes that provide high suction power.

The Dyson V11TM vacuum cleaner’s battery and monitoring system are synchronized to accurately determine how much battery life is left. The system measures cell capacity and uses an algorithm that learns the vacuum cleaner’s usage parameters to calculate the remaining run time. Display time will take into account cleaning mode, nozzle type, and type of coverage.

Dyson engineers reviewed every detail of the previous Dyson V10 with a digitally controlled motor.

The new Dyson V11 engine, which spins at up to 125,000 rpm, uses three diffusers.

The first two diffusers smooth out airflow and reduce turbulence, helping to increase suction power, while the third one further reduces noise and improves acoustic performance.

Impeller, the part of the motor responsible for the air flow, has a redesigned blade geometry: the blades are longer and thinner, increasing the contact surface with the air without increasing the weight of the impeller. This reduces blade loading and increases airflow efficiency.

Impeller blade profile has also been redesigned: each blade is shaped like an S to match the shape of the casing that houses the impeller.

The motor housing is made of a phenolic compound, which is used in satellites and offers an optimal strength-to-weight ratio. Ceramic engine impeller shaft is vulcanized at 1600°C, making it 3 times stronger and 2 times lighter than steel. 880 layers of sheet steel the thickness of a sheet of paper generate magnetic fields to rotate the motor. The motor blades are made of polyetheretherketone and composite carbon fiber molded inside the high intensity pistons.

Dyson V11’s digitally controlled motor pressure sensor sends information back to the microprocessor. This allows clogs to be reported as a sudden, sharp drop in pressure indicates a clog. Slow pressure drop indicates the need to flush the filter.

Filtration system

Efficient filtration system traps 99.97% of microscopic particles up to 0.3 micron4. 14 cyclones generate more than 79,000 g to collect microscopic particles, like pollen and bacteria, in a container.

Operating modes

  • The Dyson V11™ has three operating modes to cater to a wide range of needs. Users can choose the best mode for cleaning different floors.
  • Auto” mode offers an optimal balance of power and operating time and intelligently adapts to different types of pavement.
  • Turbo mode is designed for intense grime removal, lasting up to 5 minutes at maximum suction power.
  • Eco mode provides up to 60 minutes of run time for extended cleaning on all types of floors2.

Self-diagnosis

Dyson V11’s battery and self-diagnostic system communicate with each other to determine how long you have left. It is then displayed on the unit’s LCD screen. The system calculates the remaining operating time using an algorithm that collects data over time on how the device is operated, with the algorithm’s accuracy increasing as the device is used. The actual vacuum cleaner run time remains unchanged while the algorithm learns to measure the remaining charge more accurately.

It is important to fully charge the device before first use and after each cleaning. It helps improve algorithm accuracy. The battery is designed to maintain a constant charge, ensuring that the vacuum cleaner is fully charged before its next use. Once the battery is fully charged, the unit will not consume any power.

Battery life can be affected by the cleaning mode used and the level of power consumption on different surfaces. For example, it uses more energy to clean long pile carpets than short pile carpets. Owners can help preserve their unit’s runtime and overall battery life by using the power mode best suited for their particular cleaning task, with “Turbo” mode for heavy-duty cleaning only.
