Dyson takes an engine apart for screws at the Polytechnic Museum

On International Museum Day, Dyson presented visitors to the Polytechnic Museum with a booth demonstrating the operation of the unique Dyson Digital Motor™ abbreviated. DDM . Stand with DDM electric motor is located in the “Power Engineering” hall, which is dedicated to the main stages of development of technical means of production, conversion, transmission and use of energy.

Dyson is known as the fastest, most energy-efficient electric motor available, designed for energy-saving appliances and white goods.

The DDM V2 motor uses super-powerful neodymium magnets, digital circuitry, a high-speed polymer plastic impeller and many other high-tech innovations to design a decade of Dyson electronics and mechanics.

They ensure high rotor speed and high efficiency of the motor as a whole. Electric motor DDM V2 has a system of self-regulation of the rotor speed. Built-in microprocessor monitors the rotor rotation, detects changes and makes the necessary corrections.

Despite such high-tech stuff, the motor is nevertheless a simple design. It has a small number of parts and components, which makes it very reliable. Powerful, lightweight neodymium magnets replace contact carbon brushes, eliminating the need for a bulky, heavy copper-wound rotor and using high-tech motor components to ensure long life.

The development of the DDM V2 motor, opens up a broader engineering perspective, enabling smaller, lighter and more environmentally friendly products to be built. Instruments equipped with a DDM V2 motor use half the energy and are much more economical and efficient.

“Big electric motors don’t necessarily mean high performance,” says James Dyson. – Our new digital motor is small, powerful, efficient and reliable. It’s an entirely new class of motor, in which the shaft speed can be controlled with unique flexibility.
