Dyson PH02 will clean the air from formaldehyde

The new Dyson PH02 humidifier and air purifier captures formaldehyde in addition to bacteria, allergens and viruses and breaks it down into harmless chemical compounds. The device uses a ultraviolet C UV-C ray illumination system. It kills 99.9% of the bacteria in the water almost instantly, and the biostatic evaporator with silver filaments helps prevent bacteria from multiplying, providing truly hygienic humidification and cleaning for the entire room.

In remote work and study mode

We spend up to 90% of our time in air conditioning and heating systems that expose us to more and more dry air. Air that is too dry or too humid creates conditions conducive to the spread of bacteria and viruses.

Humidifiers are a proven solution to this problem. But non-potable water is often a breeding ground for bacteria. If the water is not properly purified, bacteria can enter the air with it, which can be five times more polluted indoors than outside the window.

Bacteria-free humidification

Ultraviolet C destroys bacteria in the water, damaging their DNA so that they lose their ability to reproduce. The process takes one picosecond a trillionth of a second , but requires intense exposure to radiation.

In developing the Dyson PH02 Pure Humidify+Cool Cryptomic , engineers conducted extensive research to calculate the optimal dose of ultraviolet C to defeat bacteria. Developers created a highly reflective Teflon tube that allows UV C to be repeatedly reflected along the entire length of the tube. When water comes from the tank and passes through multiple reflections, the UV-C light almost instantly kills 99.9% of the bacteria in it.

After treatment, water fills 3D Air-mesh vaporizer tubes. Silver threads woven into the top and bottom of the Air-mesh create a unique structure that inhibits bacterial growth on the evaporator. Due to its biostatic properties, silver has been used for more than two centuries in surgery and childbirth, as well as in treating burns and disinfecting water. Inside the evaporator, the stream of purified air is hygienically humidified by the water stream that exits the evaporator and is directed through the Air Amplifier’s aerodynamic profile into the room.

Deep cleaning cycle

Water in different regions contains different impurities that can leave mineral residues, such as lime scale, on the evaporator. For easy and convenient maintenance of the device, Dyson has developed a deep cleaning cycle. This technology allows all components affected by water to be thoroughly cleaned without time-consuming and laborious work. When cleaning is required, the deep cleaning cycle button lights up and the LCD display shows user instructions.

How the air in your room is purified

Dyson engineers have been developing filtration technology for over 25 years. The Dyson PH02 Pure Humidify+Cool Cryptomic intelligently recognizes pollution and humidity levels, evenly distributing hygienically humidified purified air around the room.

  • Monitoring

Lasers detect fine particles in the air. Another sensor measures volatile organic compounds VOCs like formaldehyde, benzene, and nitrous oxide. The third measures relative humidity and temperature. The unit’s LCD display shows all this information in real time.

  • Cleaning

The filter, made up of nine meters of compacted and densified borosilicate microfiber, captures 99.95% of the finest contaminants down to 0.1 micron in size, including allergens, bacteria, and viruses. Activated carbon coated with tris tris(hydroxymethyl aminomethane improves absorption efficiency by removing gases such as nitrogen oxide and benzene.

  • Destruction

Dyson Cryptomic technology provides continuous formaldehyde breakdown. Billions of tunnels, the diameter of which is comparable to atoms, are optimally sized and shaped to trap and separate formaldehyde into water and carbon dioxide, emitting a minimal amount of.

New airflow modes

For the first time in Dyson Pure™ devices, Dyson engineers used Jet Axis Control technology: two valves on each side of the airfoil, which are controlled independently of each other. This allows you to run directional cooling or oscillation mode, and in the winter months, diffuse airflow mode or the new breeze mode.

  • Breeze Mode

Assistant Chief Research Engineer Tim Jukes and his team used a precision 3-axis ultrasonic anemometer to collect more than 40 million observations from eight measurement points at the Dyson Research Center in Malmesbury. With this in mind, Tim’s team developed an algorithm that mimics natural air currents with oscillating jets of air to give the room a refreshing breeze feeling.

  • Directional airflow mode

In this mode, the aerodynamic profile remains fixed, creating a powerful frontal flow of cleaned air. It’s refreshing and at the same time purifies the indoor air in summer.

  • Dispersed airflow mode

Jet Axis Control valves rotate to the closed position, the aerodynamic profile opens and air is blown out the back of the unit using Air Amplifier technology. So the Dyson PH02 cleans and humidifies the air without feeling cool.

Industry standards use a laboratory test method to measure the effectiveness of air purifiers in a compact 12 m2 chamber with an additional ceiling fan for air circulation and one sensor to measure air quality.

To bring testing closer to real-world conditions, Dyson engineers decided to find a better methodology. The Dyson POLAR is tested in a large 27m2 room with no extra fan, and the air quality data is captured by eight sensors in the corners of the room and one in the center. With this test, which measures the speed and uniformity of humidification, our engineers ensure that the Dyson PH02 cleans and humidifies evenly throughout the room.
