Consumer Electronics Show IFA-2016: To Berlin for peaceful purposes

Internationale Funkausstellung, better known as IFA, will once again be held in September 2016 in Berlin. But already in the spring of 2016 at the global press conference IFA in Hong Kong and China, the organizers of the forum announced the main trends and trends in 2016 and told in what direction the technique of the future will develop.

IFA itself is also actively developing. For example, in April 2016, it opened a subsidiary consumer electronics trade show in China, and from April 20 to 22 in. Shenzhen a special economic zone, the center of concentration of high-tech industries in China – the lion’s share of digital technology, including Apple devices held an exhibition Consumer Electronics China CE China , similar to the IFA – is still small and includes only one pavilion, but has already attracted major brands: Bosch, Siemens, K&auml rcher, Melitta, Jura, etc.

Development of cooperation with China and generally with the Asia-Pacific region, the IFA management considers absolutely necessary: the market here shows continuous active growth, which is associated, according to the largest German research company GfK, with a steady growth of the middle class, because it is the main consumer of technical innovations. Compare: if in 2009 the Asia-Pacific region was home to 28% of the global middle class which, by the way, is already a lot of! , by 2020, according to GfK forecasts, this figure will almost double and reach 54% – more than half of the global middle class. The figure is expected to rise to 66% by 2030.

Connectivity – the trade show’s buzzword and the latest technology

Indeed, no word at the global IFA press conference, held in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China, in April 2016, was uttered by speakers as often as it. It has so many meanings: connectedness, connectivity, connection, bonding, interaction, connectivity. And all of these values apply to the main trend in home appliances in 2016: thanks to innovative smart technology, it can be connected between itself and the user on the Internet, it is always online, it interacts with other smart devices appliances and gadgets and its owner. According to GfK, about 30% of global market growth excluding the U.S. is precisely “smart” devices.

Connectivity will be available for almost all large appliances – refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens – and a significant portion of small appliances: kettles, coffee machines, irons, multifoods, appliances for grooming toothbrushes, hair stylers , for health control, etc.d. It’s a trend of the last few years, but it’s growing stronger and stronger, and what used to be perceived more as fun “Oh, I chatted with my iron – he’s all right!”You can remotely help your elderly parents adjust the dishwasher or washing machine, check if you have turned off the iron, you can make a cup of coffee right from bed or turn on the heating on the way to the cottage and come not to a cold house, but to a warm and cozy one, you can give a command to the vacuum cleaner, and then the house will also be clean: smartphone and the corresponding application will help you, it is through them that the connection is made.

The technology of the future already with us

From September 2 to 7 we will see it in Berlin. A Samsung washing machine that washes without water but with hot air, ovens with video cameras from Candy and Electrolux – these are the few things that can be announced already.

Dyson might be showing its powerful, efficient, vane-less and totally silent hair dryer. Let’s fantasize – what else would we like to have? After all, it’s our consumer needs and desires that tech manufacturers are responding to. Iron with cold safe steam? Robot vacuum cleaner for walls and ceilings? Refrigerator with night door locks? After all, much of what seemed quite incredible, and then firmly embedded in our everyday lives, was first demonstrated to the public at the exhibition of IFA, which traces its history to 1924.

Did you know that…

The exhibition was born in 1924, and focused primarily on new products from the field of radioelectronics – it was even originally called the Berlin Radio Show.

In 1928 the organizers dedicated the exhibition to the memory of the outstanding physicist

by Heinrich Hertz

, where the first prototype of a television set was shown, not just radio sets. And in the

1931

physicist and inventor

Manfred von Ardenne

presented a television system using

electron-beam tubes

.

In 1930, the great Albert Einstein opened the exhibition.

In 1935

at the company

AEG

showed the first audio recorder in history.

1939

was marked by the introduction of the first publicly available television set with a 7.68 × 8.86-inch display, but, alas, the outbreak of war prevented the mass launch of this device. And in the same year, the first color television prototype was unveiled at the fair.

company’s

Philips Electronics Corporation

surprised the world with a novelty, which was destined to live almost unchanged for more than 30 years: it was an audio compact cassette, which in the nineties was replaced by CDs.

2016: researchers note increased interest in wearable monitoring devices: watches, bracelets, devices that can be worn in…ear and t.p. Let’s see what new and surprising things the exhibition can show us!

If you want to be healthy, plug yourself in!

Technology for healthy living – another trend at the upcoming trade fair. “If you don’t want to, we’ll make you, if you can’t, we’ll teach you”: it could be said that we are simply being forced to take care of ourselves. Smart wristwatches, smart bracelets, thermometers, scales, toothbrushes, tonometers, glucose meters – plug yourself in and… Connect your doctor, such as a dentist already an option for owners of smart toothbrushes , a nutritionist, a fitness trainer, etc.d. Some manufacturers, such as Philips, create special wellness programs based on their smart devices, designed for a certain period of time say, 12 weeks and including goal setting for example, to normalize blood pressure and lose weight , coaching mentoring a personal consultant , monitoring and measuring all body parameters, etc.d.

It should be mentioned that the devices not only watch you and give useful advices – that would be, to put it mildly, boring though disciplined Germans do not think so and speak about such opportunities with admiration and aspiration , but also motivate: pass a few levels and you will get this and that. That’s our style – we love that!

Forecast for American market of home appliances

Speaking of ours. Alas, GfK research did not rejoice with anything good about the situation on the American market: there will not be any significant growth in any segment of home appliances. It is projected to grow from 1 to 3%, and this is even optimistic: after all, over the last year sales of large appliances fell by more than 15%, the market of small appliances shows a minus 6%. Our population is getting poorer, which means that they cannot actively buy homes, reduce their expenditures on repairs, which means that they do not need a complete renewal of home electronics and will only make “point-by-point” replacements: buy a new one if it breaks.

The market for large appliances is always more stable – people need refrigerators, ovens and washing machines almost equally. But in small appliances everything is always unexpected. So, GfK presented a “hit parade” of the fastest growing categories of small appliances, and it turns out that the first place with a large gap take hand-held vacuum cleaners: the growth in sales of them in the UK was 115%. Four segments come next: rice cookers, robot vacuum cleaners, shavers and air purifiers – the breakthrough of these categories came from China. Turkish consumers have also chosen vacuum cleaners, but not robots and “electric vacuum cleaners”, but ordinary vacuum cleaners – they added as much as 30%. Seventh place is again England: here they don’t argue about how to pronounce the word smoothie – “smoothie” or “smoothie,” here they just make them with blenders. Next is Japan and again vertical vacuum cleaners, China and again blenders and electric tooth-brushes.

“The Smart House: Who Lives In It??

Interesting study by GfK about how much impact – changes for the better, or just changes the lives of consumers this is not a new, but is continuing to conquer the world. The top seven countries where consumers noticed the impact of technology in their lives were Japan 19% of those surveyed cited the impact , Germany 43% , the U.S. 51% , South Korea 55% , surprisingly, Brazil 57% and, not surprisingly, China 75% . The first place is held by the consumers of “Smart Home” security and safety technologies, the second – the economical consumption of resources, the third – entertainment and communication, the fourth – health technology, and the fifth – smart home appliances.
