The quiet revolution in the world of washing machines has not spared the appliances with reduced dimensions. They, too, have learned a lot and built up muscle, becoming capable of “onboard” much more laundry than before.
COMPACT IS HOW MUCH?
To make the machine COMPACT, its dimensions – width, height and depth – can be adjusted. But to varying degrees. The most “floating” indicator is the depth: in addition to the standard 60 cm are offered:
reduced depth gauges
– 50-56 cm,
narrow
– 39-49 cm,
super-narrow
– 33-38 cm.
Much less often the manufacturer produces machines of non-standard width. The options are few – only 46 or 51 cm. The width is almost always smaller than standard and in height. For example, heights of 67 cm are found on Zanussi, Electrolux and Euronova, 68 cm on Eurosoba, 70 cm on Candy, 74 cm on Kuvshinka.
Recently, there has appeared a quiet leader among compacts – DWD-CV701 PC from Daewoo Electronics is a tiny washer-dryer, designed for wall mounting. With a width of 55 cm, it is 60 cm high and only 29 cm deep, i.e. as long as the long side of sheet A 4!
LOAD CAPACITY
Until a few years ago, to combine compact size and a large load in the machine was a bit difficult. But now even many of those buyers who have room for a full-sized unit, buy thinner models, as the load is quite satisfied with them.
RECORDS OF “SLIMMER” – 8 KG
The machines with reduced depth have the maximum load for now.
The leaders in this parameter today are Samsung and Hotpoint-Ariston. And the fight between the manufacturers is for every centimeter and gramme.
Samsung offers a 45 cm deep machine Samsung WF1802NFWS , and Hotpoint-Ariston has two models: one of only 44 cm depth WMSD 8219 B , the second is a little thicker – 48 cm WMSD 8215 B .
50-56 cm deep machines with such a load is also a little – about ten, today they offer three companies: LG LG F-1496AD3 – 55 cm , Hotpoint-Ariston Hotpoint-Ariston WDD 8640 B 54 cm and Daewoo Electronics Daewoo Electronics DWD-G1282 54 cm , although I think the situation will quickly change and other manufacturers will also soon add their proposals.
A KIND LESS
Candy GO4 2710 LMC is considered the narrowest machine, in which to wash 7 kilograms of laundry the depth is 40 cm, as specified by the manufacturer . Next comes Hotpoint-Ariston for example, the model WMSG 7125 B – 44 cm and Indesit IWSD 71051 – 44 cm , then – Daewoo Electronics model DWD-NT1011 – 45 cm , Zanussi ZWH 6100 V – 48 cm and Electrolux EWF 1274 EDU – 48 cm .
Devices with a depth of 50-56 cm, which can handle a load of 7 kg, on the market there are already about 150 models, and companies-manufacturers significantly more. Here are a few examples: Beko WKB 71021 PTMA 50 cm , Candy GO 2107 3DMC 52 cm , Hotpoint-Ariston ARMXXL 105 54 cm , Indesit IWE 7105 B 54 cm , Samsung WF0702WKV 55 cm .
6 – IS IT MUCH OR LITTLE??
For the machines with reduced depth this loading is already the norm. Almost every manufacturer has some proposals.
FOR THEM AND 5 IS A RECORD
In the class of super slim machines 33-38 cm depth loading varies from 4 to 5 kg. Candy EVO3 1052 D has a loading capacity of 5 kg, the declared depth of the model is only 33 cm, and Beko WKB 51231 PTMA has a depth of 37 cm.
4 kg is the norm for this class, so the choice is very wide: Indesit IWUB 4105, Zanussi ZWO 6102 V, Electrolux EWM 1044 EDU – the depth of these models 33 cm, Samsung WF0400N2N – 34 cm, LG F-1068SD – 36 cm, Vestel AWM 1035 S – 37 cm.
“BROWNERS” HAVE BEEN 3 kg
Machines “crumbs” wash only 3 kg, all depending on the product-
driver: Zanussi FCS 825 C 51x51x67 cm , Electrolux EWC 1350 50x51x67 cm , Eurosoba 1000 46x46x68 cm , not even the most compact Daewoo Electronics DWD-CV701 PC 55x29x60 cm .
TO THE STORE WITH A TAPE MEASURE
As you can see, the difference in depth of the devices is only a few centimeters, but each cleaned centimeter is literally worth its weight in gold, as it joins the machine to a certain type by depth and allows the device to look bright enough against the competition. Therefore, manufacturers have resorted to different tricks for measuring the dimensions of machines.
OUR TEST: MEASURING – TESTING
We went to the appliance store with a tape measure and measured all the machines of non-standard depth.
The results are quite interesting:
The most honest.
Bosch, Siemens all presented , Hotpoint-Ariston WMSG 608B, Indesit WIUN 103 have absolutely accurate dimensions.
Not all measure.
Beko WKB 61021 PTMA model has a depth of 45 cm, in reality – 49 cm
LG E 1091 LD – 44 cm, by measurement – 47 cm
Candy GO4E 106 3DMW – 40 cm, actually – 44 cm
Samsung WF 8590 NMW8 is stated 45 cm, our tape measure showed 49 cm, and the Samsung WR 1802 WECS with the stated 45 cm, the depth is actually 51 cm!
More often than not, manufacturers discount the high knobs of the controls and the hatch handle. In principle, this is really not so critical, it is more important if the hatch is significantly issued from the front and can make it difficult to move around a small bathroom or hallway. And one machine did not take into account the depth of the slanted control panel, that is, the size is taken by the edge of the top cover.
That’s why, if every centimeter is important for you, don’t be lazy and measure the machine yourself in the sales room.
