Choosing your kitchen. The classic is always in fashion

The classic is always valued – so they say about the classics. This design trend is experiencing a wave of interest because it incorporates the best: the achievements of mankind in the field of cuisine over the centuries and modern technological capabilities. The classic allows you to recreate the charming atmosphere of past times in your home, and does it with the inherent taste and elegance. The main task is to put people in a special well-ordered environment, to separate them from the urbanistic modernity with its vanity, speed and stress. Here, peace and solidity reign supreme.

The classic has become multifaceted

In the furniture market there are several classic furniture directions.

The main is the current, which combines the traditions of many generations of Europeans, their concepts of harmony and beauty, convenience and practicality.

In general this trend is somewhat similar to country style, but with a more sophisticated approach and chic, much like Italian design of the 19th century.

It makes bold use of natural wood in the richest hues, waxed or glossed, matte or glossy paint, light or dark marble, because of the contrast with which the attention is inevitably drawn to the advantages of the materials.

The focus is on detailing and a perfectly smooth surface. The furniture is generously decorated, based on centuries-old techniques.

There’s a lot of classic in classics. There are offers for people with different requirements. In a simplified and more accessible form it is understandable and close to many buyers, especially since the decorations are used sparingly, which means that the models are more universal and fit most interiors. This is a restrained, but very beautiful kitchen with a polished shape, simple and clear contours.

Classics can have a magnificent, solemn incarnation, inherent in the homes of the nobility and wealthy people. Even now these kitchens look like precious pieces of bygone eras, against which the most significant events of European history unfolded. Such kitchens are called palatial.

The decor is classic

As we said, the classics – this is the greatest opportunity for fans of traditional furniture to choose the best option for themselves. Let’s take a look at the suggestions.

Quiet and reserved kitchens are fitted with rigidly shaped fronts: a simple lamella and a flat inner lamella. Countertops are made very simple – a flat plate with a simple edge. There are no cornices. The handles are n-shaped, round.

The impeccable geometry catches the buyer’s eye. Most often the wood is covered with paint in light universal shades.

If this course is filled with decorative details, we get the second trend of classics, its “golden mean”, let’s call it basic. Doors look more fancy here.

The fronts have convex, beautifully shaped or straight edges. The handles become quite nice and interesting. There are cornices, they have a beveled or concave shape, at the bottom there is an element that is called a driftwood – it’s squares or rectangles, lined up in a row.

The cornice is placed not only on top of the hinged structures. It can frame the edges of the hood, allowing it to blend more harmoniously into the interior.

The sides of the cabinets in front are decorated with straight overlays, like columns with vertical notches – cannelluras, above and below them put low tetrahedral pyramids. These techniques are so impeccable that they are practically unchanged in kitchens all over Europe.

But the champion of decoration is the palatial kitchen. Despite the abundance of décor, everything here is subordinated to dimension, proportion and taste, so the headsets look grand and a little pretentious.

Lots of glamour: for example, the already complex surfaces of the fronts are finished in gold or silver. The customer chooses himself – shiny new metal or antique-looking patinated. Despite the development of manufacturing, much is still done by hand. The kitchen demonstrates the craftsmanship and ingenuity of the carvers.

Boldly apply the most luxurious techniques of architecture – pediments, friezes, carved balusters, corbels, pilasters, flat and convex columns, cornices, artfully decorated with their work. For countertops suit polished to a shiny natural stone, hard wood species.

The edge has a complex tiered shape with smooth and clear contours. In general, the palatial kitchen is also subject to established traditions, and that’s why the individual samples are so similar to each other.

To plan, it’s advisable to extend the walls

Classic style kitchens should not have a small area, because large elements are used, and for their placement and adequate perception requires space. The kitchen appliances have specific features.

Symmetry is the simplest and most effective method, which helps to give the set a logical appearance. The rule can apply to a certain area of the kitchen, for example, along one wall, or to the entire room.

In this case, more convincing look mirrored elements, that is dimensionally equivalent hinged cabinets and floor units.

Emphasis on the cooking area, which includes a hob or stove and hood. In expensive kitchens this area looks imposing due to the use of a high niche, its sides closed by carved columns.

We get a kind of volume, which is crowned from above by a decorative panel that covers the hood or directly the body of this device.

The same principle is used to create niches around shelves for dishes, showcases. You can also highlight the cooking area in a simpler way, for example with tall identical cabinets on the sides.

In the middle of the kitchen there is an island – a special unit made up of several benches under the worktop. Here you can equip the cooking area with or without a sink. The main decoration is the hanging construction, a kind of railing, on which various utensils and tableware are hung.

Some areas of the worktop are wider than the 60 cm mark, creating a projection to the front. End cabinets are equipped with round fronts or corner terminals that make the transition from furniture to a window, door, or wall more beautiful.

Cupboards from above are fitted with a cornice. It can be in the form of a frame, which goes around the perimeter of the kitchen as an architectural element, including on sections of the walls, free of furniture.
