Canon PowerShot D20

The PowerShot D20 has a range of versatile technologies, including Advanced HS, which delivers incredible image quality even in low light. The PowerShot D20 fits easily into a backpack or clips onto a carabiner, and is compact, lightweight and ready to withstand the rigors of any trip.

Canon quality in every picture

At the heart of the PowerShot D20 is Canon’s HS System, which combines the advantages of a high-sensitivity 12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC 4 image processor to keep the camera at its best in any situation, even in low light.

Whether you’re exploring the undersea world of an exotic cove or standing on a mountaintop, you can capture stunning panoramic images with Canon’s high quality wide-angle 28mm 5x zoom lens. Intelligent IS automatically analyzes the scene and selects the optimum of seven different modes[1], helping to create stunning videos and sharp photos even in difficult conditions. For example, when shooting video while driving on an uneven road, the dynamic stabilization mode will suppress the effects of hand shake and motion. Stabilization mode for panning shots is great if you’ve got a flock of birds flying through the frame, for example – the system stabilizes in one direction only. Macro mode lets you get close-up shots of starfish on a coral reef.

Capture new underwater experiences, rare sights and close-ups in a special underwater macro mode, which works with the fast auto focus mode to bring the image into focus quickly and accurately. Precise white balance underwater helps capture the deep sea in rich, natural colors. Intrepid explorers can dive in all kinds of water depths – the optional WP-DC45 Waterproof Case with optional external flash allows you to use the PowerShot D20 to capture rare vistas in depths down to 40m.

Capture night scenes confidently without a tripod, even in dark environments. Snapshot mode takes a series of quick photos one after the other and blends them into a single, clear picture with good exposure. Super Slow Motion Movie mode is a creative tool to help you get creative ideas, such as adding drama and intrigue to fast-moving action shots.

Always with you

The PowerShot D20 is weatherproof to a depth of 10 meters and can withstand temperatures down to -10°C. Active viewing technology also lets you control certain functions by touching the camera body, so you can use it even when wearing gloves. The rugged PowerShot D20 is protected against humidity, drops of up to 1.5m, sand and dust, so the high-end imaging technology inside is safe and secure.

If you’re going to blaze new trails and lead others, GPS tags[2] and low-power GPS logger feature[3]. Use them to put location data on images or track your journey, sharing your discoveries using the included Map Utility software and Google Earth[4]. Telling the story of any shot is now even easier with Video Digest mode, creating a video diary of the day’s action shots. This mode records 4 seconds before each shot is taken in 720p HD, then combines all of these micro clips from the day into a clip.

The PowerShot D20 is always ready for action. Dedicated movie recording button lets you instantly jump into Full HD 1080p video with 5x optical zoom. HDMI port with CEC allows you to pause, rewind and replay any video using the remote control of a compatible HDTV: view videos you’ve shot on the big screen!

Easy to use

Even if the action is fast-paced, you can capture the perfect shot with one quick glance at the bright, clear 7.5 cm 3.0″ PureColor II LCD screen, which features 460,000 dots and a 4:3 aspect ratio. It’s also easier than ever to capture great shots without any prior photographic experience, as the advanced Smart Auto feature, which detects 32 different scene types, selects the best combination of camera settings to ensure that each shot is perfectly exposed.

The PowerShot D20 offers seven[5] artistic effects that can be used to personalize each shot, and the photographer exploring the world will allow viewers to see it differently. Landscapes can look like a miniature model or have fisheye lens effect. Capture your unique vision!

The optional accessory kit includes a shoulder strap and carabiner strap to keep your camera handy while you hike or climb a mountain, a special neoprene and silicone pouch for extra protection, and a special accessory to keep the camera on the water surface while you swim, so your camera is ready for any adventure.
