Canon, the world leader in imaging solutions, announces the call for entries for the 2019 New Cosmos of Photography competition. Now in its 42nd year, the competition is open to entrants from around the world. Its goal is to educate and support aspiring photographers exploring new creative approaches to photography and video, and to give them a voice.

This yearâs competition will be judged by a professional jury of international experts, including British photographer Paul Graham and Sandra Phillips, curator emeritus of photography at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art SFMOMA . The selection committee will meet in July. Seven entrants will receive an Excellence Award and 14 photographers will receive an incentive award. The Grand Prize winner will be announced in November.
The first New Cosmos of Photography competition was held in 1991. Over the years, the photography competition has garnered 29,398 entries from individuals and teams, many of which have won international success. This yearâs grand prize winner will receive a prize of 1 million yen about 7,500 euros and a Canon camera. He will also be given the opportunity to hold a solo exhibition as part of the exhibition of the winning works at the New Cosmos of Photography 2020.
